What is wrong
Certain vehicles equipped with a 6.8L gasoline engine, 4x4 drive, 205” wheel base and 4.88 axle ratio may experience a driveline vibration caused by a powertrain resonance at speeds above 120 km/h. Continued operation of a vehicle at these speeds could result in a resonance frequency that may fracture transmission and/or driveline components. If the transmission and or driveline components were to fracture, it could result in a loss of motive power while the vehicle is in motion, or unintended vehicle movement in Park if the parking brake is not applied, which would increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will replace the two-piece driveshaft with a new three-piece driveshaft and two center bearing brackets.

| SSM 52314 | 2024-03-20. Service bulletin. During service and repair requiring removal and replacement of a crankshaft bolt and/or crankshaft damper, achieving proper torque of the crankshaft pulley bolt is critical. Incorrect torque may allow the bolt to loosen resulting in the timing gear breaking and engine damage. Replacement of the bolt is critical to the repair and accurately following the installation procedure in the Workshop Manual (WSM) Section, 303-01 is extremely important. The bolt torque procedure can be found in the crankshaft front seal removal and installation procedure or in the engine assembly procedure. |
| SSM 51854 | 2023-09-04. Service bulletin. Various 2013-2019 vehicles may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P264F after powertrain control module (PCM) replacement. This DTC indicates that the engine serial number (ESN) must be programmed into the PCM. The ESN is located on PTS > Diagnostics tab > HVBoM > Features > Engine Serial Number. Once the ESN is obtained from the historical vehicle bill of materials (HvBOM), it can be programmed into the PCM using the appropriate Ford diagnostic scan tool. Navigate to the toolbox tab> powertrain menu> Service Functions> ESN. |

The ESN is located on PTS> OASIS> Features> Engine Serial Number. Once the ESN is obtained from the historical vehicle bill of materials (HvBOM), it can be programmed into the PCM using the appropriate Ford diagnostic scan tool. Navigate to the toolbox tab> powertrain menu> Service Functions> ESN. |
| SSM 51691 | 2023-06-16. Service bulletin. 2011-2023 F-Super Duty and 2016-2024 F-650/F-750 vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine may exhibit an elevated idle condition. During prolonged idle time, vehicles may experience this elevated idle to reduce unburned hydrocarbons from the SCR. The powertrain control module estimates hydrocarbon levels in the SCR and may increase idle speed to remove them. Idle speed will be increased to 1000 RPM for ambient temperatures near 26°C (80°F) and may increase to 1200 RPM at -40 °C (-40°F). Vehicles may exhibit exhaust smoke and diesel exhaust fluid smell during elevated idle condition. Exhaust smoke and smell condition will not affect reliability or durability of the engine. Power take-off (PTO) use and idle set point control will disable elevated speed. It is required that the operator monitor the vehicle and adhere to any Exhaust Filter warning messages. |
| 20N04 S2 | 2023-06-06. Service bulletin. Certain 2017-2019 MY F250/F350 and all F450/550 vehicles Steering Linage Damper replacement. Reason for this supplement: Updated program terms, includes new mobile service repair assessment and updated owner letters with revised program terms. |
| TSB 22-2356 | 2022-09-30. Service bulletin. Some 2015-2019 F-Super Duty vehicles may experience a transmission fluid leak from a cracked transmission case or transmission fluid pan. This may be due to a driveline vibration condition. For vehicles that have a concern with a cracked transmission case (Figures 1-2) or fluid pan (Figures 3-4), the rear driveline imbalance most often is the root cause of this concern. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to replace the rear driveline. |
| SSM 50966 | 2022-08-02. Service bulletin. Some 2017-2019 F-Super Duty/F-650/F-750 vehicles may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P24D1 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). To correct the condition, replace the particulate matter (PM) sensor. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-14. For F-650/F-750 vehicles, use LC4Z-5L216-A. For F-Super Duty pickup and 203 inch wheelbase chassis cab vehicles, use LC3Z-5L216-C. For F-Super Duty 145/179/192 inch wheelbase chassis cab vehicles, use LC3Z-5L216-B. For F-Super Duty 168/169/193/205 inch wheelbase chassis cab vehicles, use LC3Z-5L216-A. Do not attempt a programmable module installation (PMI) after installation of the PM sensor. For claiming, use causal part 5L239 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual. |

| SSM 50549 | 2022-03-08. Service bulletin. Some 2018-2020 F-150, 2017-2022 F-Super Duty and 2016-2022 F-650/F-750 vehicles equipped with a diesel engine may exhibit diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0000 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM) after an on-demand self test. This DTC is due to a processing error in the PCM as a result of on-demand self testing. P0000 is an invalid DTC that will not illuminate the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) and no repairs should be performed. |
