## What is wrong

On certain vehicles, a bad connection at the side airbag sensor connector could cause a momentary communication loss from the side airbag sensor to the Airbag Control Unit \(ACU\). This would put the system in a backup state, lowering the impact threshold required for a side airbag deployment. If a door is being closed with force while the system is in this backup state, this could cause an unintended side airbag deployment in a non\-warranted \(non\-impact\) situation, which would increase the risk of injury to occupants. Correction: Dealers will install a jumper harness and replace the side airbag sensor with a new one.
