What is wrong

Certain vehicles may fail to comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (CMVSS) 226 - Ejection Mitigation. Due to a manufacturing error in the surface treatment process, the bolts that were used to assemble the inflatable curtain (IC) airbag may not meet specifications. This could result in one or more of the bolts breaking, which in the event of a crash warranting deployment of the IC airbag, could increase the risk of injury to vehicle occupants. Correction: Dealers will replace the affected bolts.

PB87-R89707-20162019-11-18. Service bulletin. This is a Parts Bulletin: Condensation water, transferred through the air conditioning drain hose, may leak into the passenger compartment due to incorrect installation during vehicle assembly. If this condition should occur, it may result in moisture inside the passenger compartment, which could lead to air conditioning functionality issues. If the leakage has not been detected over a period of time, this condition could affect SRS systems (airbag), engine management systems etc. In such a case, the driver may experience various warning messages displayed in the Driver Information Module (DIM) identifying that a fault may be present and also providing guidance on how to proceed. Volvo therefore considers this a potential safety risk over time.
