- Reported: 2016\-11\-17
- Component: Steering
- Notification type: Safety Mfr
- Units potentially affected: 25

## What is wrong

On certain vehicles, the Electronic Power Steering \(EPS\) control unit may be missing a weld holding a contact pin due to a manufacturing error. A missing weld could lead to a gradual increase in pin contact resistance, which could result in a fire causing injury and/or damage to property. Also, a loss of power steering assist could increase steering effort and increase the risk of a crash resulting in injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will replace the EPS control unit.
