# Transport Canada recall 2014284 A recall listed here may apply to a vehicle of this year, make and model. Only the manufacturer can say whether it applies to one vehicle: check the VIN with the official lookups. - Published by: Transport Canada \(Canada\) - Campaign number: 2014284 - Manufacturer's number: 14350 - Reported: 2014\-07\-03 - Component: Electrical - Notification type: Safety Mfr - Units potentially affected: 641121 ## What is wrong On certain vehicles, a defect in the ignition switch could allow the switch to move out of the "run" position if the key ring is carrying added weight or the vehicle goes off\-road or is subjected to some other jarring event. If this were to occur, engine power, power steering and power braking would be affected, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. The timing of the key movement out of the “run” position, relative to the activation of the sensing algorithm of the crash event, may also result in the airbags not deploying in a subsequent collision, increasing the risk of injury. Correction: For each key, dealers will install two key rings and modify the key ring opening shape. Note: Until the correction is performed, all items should be removed from the key ring. ## Vehicles this campaign lists - [2000 CHEVROLET IMPALA](/makes/chevrolet/impala/2000/recalls.md) - [2001 CHEVROLET IMPALA](/makes/chevrolet/impala/2001/recalls.md) - [2002 CHEVROLET IMPALA](/makes/chevrolet/impala/2002/recalls.md) - [2003 CHEVROLET IMPALA](/makes/chevrolet/impala/2003/recalls.md) - [2004 CHEVROLET IMPALA](/makes/chevrolet/impala/2004/recalls.md) - [2005 CHEVROLET IMPALA](/makes/chevrolet/impala/2005/recalls.md) - [1997 CHEVROLET MALIBU](/makes/chevrolet/malibu/1997/recalls.md) - [1998 CHEVROLET MALIBU](/makes/chevrolet/malibu/1998/recalls.md) - [1999 CHEVROLET MALIBU](/makes/chevrolet/malibu/1999/recalls.md) - [2000 CHEVROLET MALIBU](/makes/chevrolet/malibu/2000/recalls.md) - [2001 CHEVROLET MALIBU](/makes/chevrolet/malibu/2001/recalls.md) - [2002 CHEVROLET MALIBU](/makes/chevrolet/malibu/2002/recalls.md) - [2003 CHEVROLET MALIBU](/makes/chevrolet/malibu/2003/recalls.md) - [2004 CHEVROLET MALIBU](/makes/chevrolet/malibu/2004/recalls.md) - [2005 CHEVROLET MALIBU](/makes/chevrolet/malibu/2005/recalls.md) - [2000 CHEVROLET MONTE CARLO](/makes/chevrolet/monte-carlo/2000/recalls.md) - [2001 CHEVROLET MONTE CARLO](/makes/chevrolet/monte-carlo/2001/recalls.md) - [2002 CHEVROLET MONTE CARLO](/makes/chevrolet/monte-carlo/2002/recalls.md) - [2003 CHEVROLET MONTE CARLO](/makes/chevrolet/monte-carlo/2003/recalls.md) - [2004 CHEVROLET MONTE CARLO](/makes/chevrolet/monte-carlo/2004/recalls.md) - [2005 CHEVROLET MONTE CARLO](/makes/chevrolet/monte-carlo/2005/recalls.md) - [1999 OLDSMOBILE ALERO](/makes/oldsmobile/alero/1999/recalls.md) - [2000 OLDSMOBILE ALERO](/makes/oldsmobile/alero/2000/recalls.md) - [2001 OLDSMOBILE ALERO](/makes/oldsmobile/alero/2001/recalls.md) - [2002 OLDSMOBILE ALERO](/makes/oldsmobile/alero/2002/recalls.md) - [2003 OLDSMOBILE ALERO](/makes/oldsmobile/alero/2003/recalls.md) - [2004 OLDSMOBILE ALERO](/makes/oldsmobile/alero/2004/recalls.md) - [1998 OLDSMOBILE INTRIGUE](/makes/oldsmobile/intrigue/1998/recalls.md) - [1999 OLDSMOBILE INTRIGUE](/makes/oldsmobile/intrigue/1999/recalls.md) - [2000 OLDSMOBILE INTRIGUE](/makes/oldsmobile/intrigue/2000/recalls.md) - [2001 OLDSMOBILE INTRIGUE](/makes/oldsmobile/intrigue/2001/recalls.md) - [2002 OLDSMOBILE INTRIGUE](/makes/oldsmobile/intrigue/2002/recalls.md) - [1999 PONTIAC GRAND AM](/makes/pontiac/grand-am/1999/recalls.md) - [2000 PONTIAC GRAND AM](/makes/pontiac/grand-am/2000/recalls.md) - [2001 PONTIAC GRAND AM](/makes/pontiac/grand-am/2001/recalls.md) - [2002 PONTIAC GRAND AM](/makes/pontiac/grand-am/2002/recalls.md) - [2003 PONTIAC GRAND AM](/makes/pontiac/grand-am/2003/recalls.md) - [2004 PONTIAC GRAND AM](/makes/pontiac/grand-am/2004/recalls.md) - [2005 PONTIAC GRAND AM](/makes/pontiac/grand-am/2005/recalls.md) - [2004 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX](/makes/pontiac/grand-prix/2004/recalls.md) - [2005 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX](/makes/pontiac/grand-prix/2005/recalls.md) - [2006 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX](/makes/pontiac/grand-prix/2006/recalls.md) - [2007 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX](/makes/pontiac/grand-prix/2007/recalls.md) - [2008 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX](/makes/pontiac/grand-prix/2008/recalls.md) ## Bulletins for the same vehicles and component A bulletin is the manufacturer's note to its dealers.
