## What is wrong

Certain vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of CMVSS 115 \- Vehicle Identification Number \(VIN\).  Specifically, the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating \(GVWR\) digit \- position 4 in the VIN \- should have had the letter "C" \(for vehicles with a GVWR 4,001 \- 5,000 lb\), but instead contains the letter "D" \(GVWR 5,001 \- 6,000 lb\).  Correction: Since this does not pose any safety risk, no corrective action is required.
