# Transport Canada recall 1998189

A recall listed here may apply to a vehicle of this year, make and model. Only the manufacturer can say whether it applies to one vehicle: check the VIN with the official lookups.

- Published by: Transport Canada \(Canada\)
- Campaign number: 1998189
- Manufacturer's number: 98052
- Reported: 1998\-09\-23
- Component: Powertrain
- Notification type: Safety Mfr
- Units potentially affected: 1610

## What is wrong

On certain vehicles, the automatic transaxle shift lever appears to be in PARK, but can easily be moved from the PARK position without the use of the key, transaxle lever detent button, or depressing the brake. If the shift lever were to come out of PARK while the vehicle is parked on a non\-level surface, a roll away could occur with the possibility of a crash without prior warning. Correction: Shifter assembly will be replaced.
