# Transport Canada recall 1993100 A recall listed here may apply to a vehicle of this year, make and model. Only the manufacturer can say whether it applies to one vehicle: check the VIN with the official lookups. - Published by: Transport Canada \(Canada\) - Campaign number: 1993100 - Manufacturer's number: 93\-015 - Reported: 1993\-07\-19 - Component: Heater And Defroster - Notification type: Safety Mfr - Units potentially affected: 25000 ## What is wrong On certain 318I, 325I and M3 vehicles, elevated pressure in the cooling system due to overheating could result in cracking of the heater core end piece. Should this happen, coolant could be expelled onto the lower right leg of the driver, possibly resulting in personal injury and/or fogging of the interior surfaces of the windows causing reduced driver vision. Correction: A thermistatic bypass valve will be installed to control coolant temperature in the heater core. Also, a new design radiator cap will be installed to control pressure and provide greater overflow. ## Vehicles this campaign lists - [1984 BMW 3 SERIES](/makes/bmw/318i/1984/recalls.md).
