What is wrong

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2024-2025 Mustang, and Mustang GTD vehicles. Water may enter the body control module and cause a loss of communication with the exterior lighting, including the license plate light, side marker, and tail lights. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

What can happen

License plate, side marker, and tail lights that fail to illuminate as intended can reduce visibility to other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Dealers will inspect and seal the body seams as necessary. Dealers will also inspect the body control module for corrosion and replace it, if necessary. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed October 10, 2025. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25C43.

SSM 522482024-02-14. Service bulletin. Some 2024 Mustang vehicles are equipped with a clear protective film layer affixed to the top surface of the rear lamps. This protective film layer helps reduce incremental signs of contact and should not be removed/discarded. In the event the clear protective film layer were to become damaged or inadvertently removed, service kit (PR3Z-13420-C) has been released to help address this condition. Follow the instruction sheet included with service kit (PR3Z-13420-C) for proper installation/adhesion of the clear protective film layer to the rear lamp substrate. For claiming, use causal part 13404/13405 and M-time.

A bulletin is the manufacturer's note to its dealers. It is not part of this recall.
