## What is wrong

Ford Motor Company \(Ford\) is recalling certain 2014 F\-150 vehicles. A loss of signal between the transmission output shaft speed sensor and the powertrain control module can cause the transmission to unexpectedly downshift into first gear, regardless of vehicle speed.

## What can happen

Unexpectedly downshifting into first gear may result in a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.

## The remedy

Dealers will update the powertrain control module software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 1, 2024. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1\-866\-436\-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 24S37.

## Notes

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1\-888\-327\-4236 \(TTY 1\-800\-424\-9153\), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.
