What is wrong
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2017-2019 Transit Connect vehicles. An improper bond may exist between the panoramic roof and the vehicle body, which can result in the panel detaching from the vehicle.
What can happen
A roof panel that detaches while driving can create a road hazard and increase the risk of a crash.
The remedy
Dealers will remove, clean, and reinstall the panoramic roof panel, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 4, 2024. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 24S29.

Bulletins for the same vehicles and component
| TSB 20-2382 | 2020-12-05. Service bulletin. Some 2014-2020 Transit Connect vehicles built on/or after 01-Feb-2013 may exhibit water dripping into the passenger front footwell. This may be due to an excessive gap in the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) case allowing water to drip from the case when the air conditioning (A/C) is operating. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure steps to reseal the HVAC case. |
|---|---|
| SSM 48130 | 2019-09-06. Service bulletin. Some 2010-2020 vehicles may exhibit distorted glass with a subtle orange peel pattern or streaking etched into the surface. This is caused by hydrofluoric acid which is used in some car wash solutions as a cleaning agent. Hydrofluoric acid can attack the glass and cause visual distortion and/or discoloration on the outer surface which cannot be removed by further cleaning. If this type of distortion is found, inspect the area of the glass that is covered by the cowl and/or molding. The portion of glass that is covered by the cowl or molding will not be affected by the acid. Hydrofluoric acid damage is not a defect in material or workmanship and is not a warrantable condition. |
A bulletin is the manufacturer's note to its dealers. It is not part of this recall.
