## What is wrong

Daimler Trucks North America, LLC \(DTNA\) is recalling certain 2023\-2024 Freightliner eCascadia vehicles.  The e\-axle planetary gear set may not be welded properly, which can cause the e\-motor to detach from the final drive, resulting in an undetectable and sudden loss of drive power without the ability to restart the vehicle.


## What can happen

An undetectable and sudden loss of drive power can increase the risk of a crash.


## The remedy

Dealers will inspect and replace the e\-axle\(s\) as necessary, free of charge.  Owner notification letters were mailed November 13, 2023.  Owners may contact DTNA customer service at 1\-800\-547\-0712.  DTNA's number for this recall is FL979.
