What is wrong
Arcimoto, Inc. (Arcimoto) is recalling certain 2019-2022 FUV, 2021-2022 Rapid Responder, 2020-2022 Deliverator, and Roadster motorcycles. When the battery is at freezing temperatures, the vehicle control unit may inadvertently disable vehicle charging from a power outlet.
What can happen
A disabled charging system may result in the driver unknowingly operating the vehicle in an uncharged state, resulting in a stall and increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy
An Arcimoto service technician will update the firmware, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 3, 2022. Owners may contact Arcimoto customer service at 1-541-683-6293.
Notes
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.

Bulletins for the same vehicles and component
| SB-22-001 | 2022-03-11. Service bulletin. A problem was discovered in service where multiple vehicles have had an issue recharging if the Battery temperature falls below 0C°. This potentially affects all 2019-2022 D-Deliverators, E-Rapid Responders, R-Roadsters, and T-FUVs. When this occurs there is a fault that requires a hard reset to restore the vehicle. When the fault occurs, loss of regenerative braking. The root cause was confirmed that the Charger Enabled Relay (CER) was latching out when CCL drops below 0A more than 2 times in a minute. This was being caused by battery temperature dropping to 0°C, or state of charge rising to 100%.There will be new firmware updates made available. Customers will need to bring their vehicles in to have the new firmware updated. |
