# NHTSA recall 21V411000 A recall listed here may apply to a vehicle of this year, make and model. Only the manufacturer can say whether it applies to one vehicle: check the VIN with the official lookups. - Published by: NHTSA \(United States\) - Campaign number: 21V411000 - Manufacturer's number: VS3UXPOBOX - Manufacturer: Daimler Vans USA, LLC - Reported: 2021\-06\-02 - Owners notified: 2021\-08\-17 - Component: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE; BACK OVER PREVENTION:DISPLAY FUNCTION - Units potentially affected: 33437 - Part numbers: A2479042200, A2479041900, A1679048900 ## What is wrong Daimler Vans USA, LLC \(DVUSA\) is recalling certain 2019\-2021 Mercedes\-Benz Sprinter and Freightliner Sprinter vehicles. The MBUX multimedia system software may cause the display to remain black, or reboot after startup. This could result in the rearview camera image not displaying properly. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard \(FMVSS\) number 111, "Rear Visibility." ## What can happen A backup camera that displays a blank image reduces the driver's rear view, increasing the risk of a crash or injury. ## The remedy The multimedia system software will be updated by a dealer, or through an over\-the\-air \(OTA\) update, free of charge. DVUSA issued owners an interim notification on July 23, 2021. Owners may contact DVUSA customer service at 1\-877\-762\-8267. DVUSA's number for this recall is VS3UXPOBOX. ## Notes Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1\-888\-327\-4236 \(TTY 1\-800\-424\-9153\), or go to www.nhtsa.gov. ## Remedy progress the manufacturer reported - Report: Annual report 3, for 2025 quarter 3 to 2026 quarter 2 - Filed with NHTSA: 2026\-07\-08 - Vehicles in the campaign: 33437 - Reported remedied: 31405 \(93%\) - Reported unreachable: 0 - Reported removed: 0 These are the manufacturer's totals for the whole campaign at the end of 2026 quarter 2, as filed with NHTSA.
