What is wrong

Prime-Time Specialty Vehicles (Prime-Time) is recalling certain 2016-2018 Ram ProMaster and Ford Transit vehicles modified to be equipped with Freedman GO-ES Foldaway Seats. When the seat back cushion is rotated from the stowed position to the upright position, the seat cushion may not remain locked into place when under load, such as in a crash or a sudden stop.

What can happen

In the event of a crash, if the seat back moves, the seat occupant has an increased risk of injury.

The remedy

Prime-Time Specialty Vehicles has notified owners, and Freedman dealers have inspected and repaired the foldaway seats, free of charge. The recall began November 16, 2018. Owners may contact Freedman customer service at 1-800-443-4540 or Prime-Time Specialty Vehicles at 1-574-293-9191.

Notes

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

SSM 476902019-01-07. Service bulletin. 2018-2019 Transit vehicles built on or after 30-April 2018 no longer have front seat track covers on the ends of the seat rails. The vehicle is not misbuilt. The addition of any parts would not be considered a warrantable repair. Do not submit a claim for this condition.
tsb18-21792018-09-10. Service bulletin. This article supersedes TSB 18-2084 to update the Service Procedure. Some 2013-2018 Transit Connect vehicles built on 1-Jan-2013 and through 5-Jan-2018 may exhibit a condition where either section of the second row seat is stuck or difficult to fold or unfold. This may be due to a misrouted cable or a cable that is in need of adjustment. It may be necessary to reduce the cable end fitting length. It is not necessary to install a new second row seat. Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
TSB18-20842018-05-21. Service bulletin. Some 2013-2018 Transit Connect vehicles built on 9-Jan-2013 and through 5-Jan-2018 may exhibit a condition where the second row seat is stuck or difficult to fold or unfold. This may be due to a misrouted cable or a cable in need of adjustment. Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
SSM 467162017-08-25. Service bulletin. Some 2015-2017 Transit vehicles may exhibit front seat safety belts that do not extend or retract properly or may exhibit an abnormal noise. Verify if the vehicle has been modified, in particular if a bulkhead partition between the front seats and cargo area has been added to the vehicle. Fasteners or holes in the lower b-pillar are indicators that the seat belt retractor mechanism could have been compromised. If diagnostics lead to retractor replacement, inspect for drill or screw holes in the retractor housing. Damage to the seat belt retractor caused by a vehicle modifier is not warrantable.

A bulletin is the manufacturer's note to its dealers. It is not part of this recall.
