# NHTSA recall 18V047000 A recall listed here may apply to a vehicle of this year, make and model. Only the manufacturer can say whether it applies to one vehicle: check the VIN with the official lookups. - Published by: NHTSA \(United States\) - Campaign number: 18V047000 - Manufacturer's number: MFV00001 - Manufacturer: Mitsubishi Fuso Truck of America, Inc. - Reported: 2018\-01\-11 - Owners notified: 2018\-01\-11 - Component: EQUIPMENT - Units potentially affected: 1153 ## What is wrong Mitsubishi Fuso Truck of America, Inc. \(MFTA\) is recalling certain 2004\-2017 FE84D, FE85D, FEC52, FEC72, FEC92, FGB72, FK61F and FM657 trucks. These trucks are equipped with Kidde Plastic\-Handle or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers that may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or requiring excessive force to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. For a full list of the affected fire extinguisher models visit: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC\-17E062\-5427.pdf ## What can happen In the event of a fire, if the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury. ## The remedy MFTA will notify owners, instructing them to contact Kidde for a replacement fire extinguisher, free of charge. The recall began on January 11, 2018. Owners may contact MFTA customer service at 1\-877\-711\-0707, or Kidde customer service toll\-free at 1\-855\-262\-3540, or online at www.kidde.com and click on "Product Safety Recall" for more information. MFTA's number for this recall is MFV00001. ## Notes Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1\-888\-327\-4236 \(TTY 1\-800\-424\-9153\), or go to www.safercar.gov. ## Remedy progress the manufacturer reported - Report: Quarterly report 6, for 2019 quarter 2 - Filed with NHTSA: 2019\-08\-19 - Vehicles in the campaign: 1153 - Reported remedied: 21 \(1%\) - Reported unreachable: 0 - Reported removed: 0 These are the manufacturer's totals for the whole campaign at the end of 2019 quarter 2, as filed with NHTSA.
