What is wrong

Porsche Cars of North America, Inc. (Porsche) is recalling certain model year 2015 918 Spyder vehicles manufactured May 7, 2014, to June 18, 2014. The affected vehicles may have been manufactured with rear-axle control arms that may break, causing difficulty controlling the vehicle.

What can happen

If the control arms break, the driver may lose control of the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Porsche will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the control arms, as necessary, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. Owners may contact Porsche customer service at 1-800-767-7243. Porsche's number for this recall is AE03.

Notes

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

122-A8U3D-052018-05-21. Service bulletin. Condition Loose or Damaged M8 Threaded Inserts Technical Background The protective panel below the engine is actually an integral part of the rear CFRP monocoque. The rear suspension must never be ladened without this panel properly installed and at least the eight M8 fasteners installed and tightened to specification (see Figure 1).
122-E4S9A-042017-10-15. Service bulletin. During hard cornering maneuvers, a rhythmic clicking noise may be emitted from the rear axle hubs. This noise is a non-hazardous, non-destructive characteristic of the vehicle. The root cause is the relative movement of the wheel and brake rotor against the 5 drive pins of wheel hub. This tiny amount of movement produces vibrations that are propagated through the rigid suspension joints and carbon fiber reinforced structure of the vehicle. Improper wheel nut tightening or trace amounts of lubricants, debris and corrosion between the hub, brake rotor and wheel all can facilitate this movement. Procedure: If the clicking sound becomes unacceptable to the customer, repair actions may be attempted that may provide at least a temporary solution. These should be implemented in two successive scopes depending on severity and reoccurrence.

A bulletin is the manufacturer's note to its dealers. It is not part of this recall.
