What is wrong

General Motors is recalling certain model year 2011 Chevrolet Express vehicles converted by Impco Automotive to run compressed natural gas (CNG), manufactured between November 23, 2010 and December 23, 2010 and equipped with a four tank configuration using a pressure relief device (PRD) and pressure relief vent pipe assembly. In the affected vehicles, the pressure relief vent pipe assembly may have been built incorrectly.

What can happen

If a pressure relief device activates with an improperly assembled vent pipe, compressed natural gas may be vented into the passenger compartment. If an ignition source is present, an explosion or fire may result.

The remedy

Impco Automotive, in cooperation with General Motors will inspect and make any necessary repairs on the pressure relief device and vent pipe assembly. The safety recall began on March 28, 2013. Owners may contact General Motors at 1-800-521-7300.

PIP55962018-11-13. Service bulletin. This Preliminary information communicates that when removing the fuel line jumper hose care should be taken to be sure the line is reinstalled correctly to avoid a no/low fuel pressure situation.
PIP3343F2018-02-21. Service bulletin. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that have an oil leak shortly after a cold start when extremely low ambient temperatures are present. Technician will need to clean the area of the oil leak, clean and dry the PCV hoses, and replace the oil fill cap with part number 12589430.
PIP4864P2017-08-15. Service bulletin. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that may have "Exhaust Fluid Low", "Exhaust Fluid Empty - Refill Now", "Exhaust Fluid Range: XXX" or "Service Exhaust Fluid - See Owners Now" on the Driver Information Center. If the technician is working on 2010 and 2011 model years campaign 11001 has now been released. Other vehicles technician will need to check the Body Control Module and the scan tool to insure the latest calibration are installed in both. Then use the scan tool to check Reductant System Data in the Engine Control Module. Ensure that all three diesel exhaust fluid level sensors are active with the diesel exhaust fluid tank level showing 100%. If the tank level is below 100% add up to 2 gallons of diesel exhaust fluid. After adding the fluid, use a scan tool to reset the reductant fluid tank level. When the reductant level warning shows "none" the diesel exhaust fluid system reset and reprogram is complete.
PIT4943D2017-08-15. Service bulletin. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that have a Service Engine Soon Malfunction Indicator Lamp. Technician may find Diagnostic Trouble Code P0442. Technician will need to review Techlink article from May 2013 titled "Using the Evaporative Emissions System Tester" Technician will need to follow these steps to help diagnose the issue. First after the P0442 has been verified do not disturb any of the fuel system components. The technician now can use the scan tool to close the Evaporative Emissions System. If possible change the tank pressure sensor units from inch_H2O to milimeter_Hg for better resolution. Now the vehicle can be stared to monitor the tank pressure sensor output value for approximately two minutes. If the tank pressure sensor value does change, pressurize the fuel tank side of the purge solenoid with the GE 41413-A / J 41413-A and the necessary adaptors. Now add smoke and allow pressure to stabilize for 2 minutes. If smoke is allowed to pass through the purge solenoid, replace the purge solenoid. If the tank pressure sensor value does not change, then install CH-48096 adaptor between the purge line from the canister and the purge solenoid. With the Evaporative Emissions System closed, pressurize the system through the CH-48096 adaptor and allow the system to completely stabilize, by observing the Press / Vac Gauge for a minimum of 5 minutes. Now add smoke to the system with GE 41413-A / J 41413-A after system stabilization. Now inspect the purge solenoid, engine side, fuel cap, canister vent solenoid filter and any line quick connects. When the leak is unable to be located, test under a vacuum condition. his type of leak may be detected by using the scan tool Purge/Seal function to create a vacuum in the Evaporative Emissions System and then observe the FTP sensor parameter for vacuum decay.
PIP4887B2017-08-15. Service bulletin. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that have a "Service Exhaust Fluid System" and a "See Owner's Manual Now" message displayed on the Instrument Panel Cluster. Technician may find reductant level sensor Diagnostic Trouble Codes P203D, P21AB, and P21B0 set. Technician will need to follow published Service Information diagnostics for the Diagnostic Trouble Codes that are set. If no wiring concerns are found replace the Diesel Exhaust Fluid tank assembly.
