- [21V865000](/recalls/nhtsa/21V865000.md), 2021-11-05: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:ENGINE CONTROL MODULE \(ECU/ECM\):SOFTWARE. Yamaha Motor Corporation, USA \(Yamaha\) is recalling certain 2016\-2021 FJR13 motorcycles.  The Engine Control Unit \(ECU\) programming installed under Recall 20V\-813 \(990141\), that was designed to prevent gear damage, may prevent the engine from accelerating as intended. **NHTSA advises: do not drive until the repair is done.**
- [20V814000](/recalls/nhtsa/20V814000.md), 2020-12-28: EXTERIOR LIGHTING:BRAKE LIGHTS:SWITCH. Yamaha Motor Corporation, USA \(Yamaha\) is recalling certain 2018\-2020 MTT9GT \(Tracer GT\), 2019 MXTGTKL \(NIKEN GT\), 2017\-2020 MT10, 2018\-2020 XTZ12 \(Super Ténéré\), 2013\-2020 FJR13, 2018 XV19B \(Star Eluder\), and 2018\-2021 XV19 \(Star Venture\) motorcycles.  The front brake switch can fail due to increased resistance from silicon oxide. **NHTSA advises: do not drive until the repair is done.**
- [20V813000](/recalls/nhtsa/20V813000.md), 2020-12-28: POWER TRAIN:MANUAL TRANSMISSION:INTERNAL:GEARS. Yamaha Motor Corporation, USA \(Yamaha\) is recalling certain 2016\-2020 Yamaha FJR13A and FJR13AE motorcycles.  The second gear of the transmission can crack and break under high speed loads. **NHTSA advises: do not drive until the repair is done.**

## Canada (Transport Canada), as of 2026-10-19

- [2021675](/recalls/tc/2021675.md), 2021-11-05: Engine. Issue: On certain motorcycles, a software problem may limit the engine speed in first gear. This could cause the motorcycle not to accelerate as expected when you apply the throttle. Note: This recall affects motorcycles repaired under recall 2020\-571.  Safety Risk: A sudden lack of acceleration could surprise the rider, and in certain situations, could increase the risk of a crash.  Corrective Actions: Yamaha will contact owners by mail and instruct you to take your motorcycle to a dealer to update the engine control unit \(ECU\) software. Yamaha recommends that you should not use your motorcycle until this updated is completed.
- [2020572](/recalls/tc/2020572.md), 2020-11-25: Lights And Instruments. Issue: On certain motorcycles, the brake switch may not work correctly due to a manufacturing defect. As a result, the brake light could stay on. This can also cause the cruise control system not to work or could cause it to turn off.  Safety Risk: A brake light that does not work properly could result in road users being confused with the rider's intentions, and increase the risk of a crash.  Corrective Actions: Yamaha will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your motorcycle to a dealer to replace the front brake switch.
- [2020571](/recalls/tc/2020571.md), 2020-11-25: Powertrain. Issue: On certain motorcycles, the second gear in the transmission could break. If this happens, the transmission could jam and cause a sudden lock up of the rear wheel.  Safety Risk: A rear wheel that locks suddenly could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash.  Corrective Actions: Yamaha will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your motorcycle to a dealer to replace the transmission assembly with one that has an updated design and reprogram the electronic control unit \(ECU\).
