The affected vehicles were manufactured without Anti\-lock Brake Systems. As such, these vehicles fail to meet the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 121, "Air Brake Systems." Issue: Certain trucks were built with tires that are not approved for use with the truck's wheels. As a result, the tires may not perform properly, or a tire could fail. Safety Risk: A tire failure could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Daimler Trucks North America \(DTNA\) will notify owners by mail. The corrective actions for this recall are under development. You will be instructed to bring your truck to a DTNA authorized service facility when a repair is available. - [2019237](/recalls/tc/2019237.md), 2019-05-17: Brakes. Issue: Certain trucks were built with air reservoir tanks that are too small in relation to the size of the air brake chambers. Canadian regulations require enough air reservoir capacity to ensure the brakes work even with heavy use or when there is a partial loss of the air system. Safety Risk: Reduced braking could cause extended stopping distances and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their truck to a Daimler Trucks North America authorized service facility to modify the truck to ensure it meets Canadian regulations. - [2018283](/recalls/tc/2018283.md), 2018-05-29: Brakes. Certain vehicles built with front disc brakes and a Lomax hood may not have enough clearance between the hood and the front brake hose. This could cause chafing of the brake hose, which could lead to an air leak resulting in reduced brake effectiveness and increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: Authorized dealers will replace the front brake hose. On certain vehicles equipped with Kidde fire extinguishers with black plastic handles and valves, the fire extinguishers may become clogged or require excessive force to activate. In case of fire, failure of the extinguisher to function could result in injury and/or property damage. Correction: Owners will be provided with instructions on how to inspect the fire extinguisher to see if it is recalled. Replacement fire extinguishers will be supplied by Kidde directly. On certain vehicles with air brakes, after several hard brake applications, the brake light pressure switch may not activate the brake lights with a light application of the brake pedal. If the brake lights do not illuminate, following road users would be unaware of the intent of the driver to slow the vehicle, which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Daimler Trucks North America authorized service facilities will repair the brake light pressure switch. - [2017130](/recalls/tc/2017130.md), 2017-03-10: Brakes. On certain vehicles outfitted with triple compartment aluminium air tanks, the end caps of the tanks may have received incomplete welds during manufacturing. If a weld were to separate on the tanks, it would result in a rapid loss of air pressure, which could cause reduced brake performance, or unexpected application of the parking brakes, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will replace the affected tanks with triple compartment steel air tanks. - [2016483](/recalls/tc/2016483.md), 2016-10-04: Seats And Restraints. On certain vehicles equipped with a Stratosphere sleeper cab, a seat belt mount failed during testing due to an incorrect diameter hole on the seat belt anchor plate. If this condition is present, the seat belt may not properly restrain the occupant in the event of a crash, which could increase the risk of injury. On certain trucks equipped with Marmon\-Herrington driven front axles, flange yoke fasteners were not tightened to specification.
