- [2019237](/recalls/tc/2019237.md), 2019-05-17: Brakes. Issue: Certain trucks were built with air reservoir tanks that are too small in relation to the size of the air brake chambers. Canadian regulations require enough air reservoir capacity to ensure the brakes work even with heavy use or when there is a partial loss of the air system. Safety Risk: Reduced braking could cause extended stopping distances and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their truck to a Daimler Trucks North America authorized service facility to modify the truck to ensure it meets Canadian regulations.
- [2017636](/recalls/tc/2017636.md), 2017-12-18: Accessories. On certain vehicles equipped with Kidde fire extinguishers with black plastic handles and valves, the fire extinguishers may become clogged or require excessive force to activate. Also, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury, and fail to discharge. In case of fire, failure of the extinguisher to function could result in injury and/or property damage. Correction: Owners will be provided with instructions on how to inspect the fire extinguisher to see if it is recalled. Replacement fire extinguishers will be supplied by Kidde directly. Note: For more information about recalled fire extinguishers, please visit \<a href="https://inmarmarketaction.com/kidde/Kidde284CA/"\>www.kidde.com\</a\>.
- [2017583](/recalls/tc/2017583.md), 2017-11-28: Brakes. On certain vehicles with air brakes, after several hard brake applications, the brake light pressure switch may not activate the brake lights with a light application of the brake pedal. If the brake lights do not illuminate, following road users would be unaware of the intent of the driver to slow the vehicle, which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Daimler Trucks North America authorized service facilities will repair the brake light pressure switch.
- [2013300](/recalls/tc/2013300.md), 2013-09-04: Seats And Restraints. On certain trucks, a misaligned B\-pillar reinforcement could affect seatbelt D\-ring anchor performance. Failure of the seatbelt D\-ring anchorage to restrain the seat occupant would increase the risk of personal injury during a crash. Correction: Dealers will reinforce the seatbelt D\-ring anchor.
- [2012168](/recalls/tc/2012168.md), 2012-05-22: Electrical. On certain vehicles, the forward cab crossmember may pinch power cables for the cab\-mounted battery disconnect switch during cab articulation. This could cause an electrical short which could result in a vehicle fire causing property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will relocate the power cables.
- [2012080](/recalls/tc/2012080.md), 2012-02-27: Fuel System. On certain trucks equipped with a Detroit Diesel DD13, DD15 or DD16 engine, the support system for the high pressure fuel line \(between the fuel pump and the fuel delivery rail\) may be damaged during a service repair procedure. Incorrect torque applied to the dampener "P" clip fasteners may damage the fasteners, which could allow the clips to loosen. This could result in a cracked fuel line and a diesel fuel leak. Diesel fuel leakage may ignite on a hot engine surface and cause a fire. As well, diesel fuel spilt on the roadway could endanger other road users by making the roadway unexpectedly slippery. These issues could result in property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will replace the high pressure fuel line and install a more robust fuel line support system.
- [2011411](/recalls/tc/2011411.md), 2011-11-21: Other. On certain vehicles equipped with an MBE4000 \(EPA07\) engine, the intake air grid heater may short circuit and fail. This could result in a vehicle fire causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will install an additional external relay to prevent battery connection to the grid heater when the vehicle is not running and when grid heater control signal is absent.
- [2011236](/recalls/tc/2011236.md), 2011-06-22: Electrical. On certain trucks equipped with a DD15 or DD16 engine, the bolt attaching a rubber isolator to a support bracket may become loose, back out, and contact the starter cable. This could cause an electrical short, which could result in a fire causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will install a new bolt and isolator, and apply thread\-locking fluid to the fastener.
- [2011141](/recalls/tc/2011141.md), 2011-03-29: Engine. On certain trucks equipped with a Caterpillar C15 diesel engine, the Diesel Particulate Filter \(DPF\) combustion tube may fail. This could result in a vehicle fire causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will replace the DPF combustion tube.
- [2010251](/recalls/tc/2010251.md), 2010-07-26: Other. On certain vehicles equipped with an MBE900 \(EPA04 and EPA07\) engine, the intake air grid heater may short circuit and fail. This could result in a vehicle fire causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will install an additional external relay to prevent battery connection to the grid heater when the vehicle is not running and when grid heater control signal is absent.
- [2010250](/recalls/tc/2010250.md), 2010-07-26: Fuel System. On certain vehicles equipped with a DD13 and DD15 engines, over time, the barrel of the Bosch high pressure fuel pump element may develop a crack due to hydrogen induced stress corrosion, which could result in a diesel fuel leak. Diesel fuel spilt on the roadway could endanger other road users by making the roadway unexpectedly slippery. Correction: Dealers will replace the high pressure fuel pump element with a more robust version.
- [2010201](/recalls/tc/2010201.md), 2010-06-14: Steering. On certain twin\-steer 4900SA vehicles, the spacer used to connect the aft steer axle idler arm to the frame rail may develop cracks and eventually break under severe steering conditions. This would allow the idler arm to separate from the frame rail, resulting in diminished steering control, which could lead to a crash causing property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will replace the tubular shaped spacer bracket with a solid spacer block.
- [2010144](/recalls/tc/2010144.md), 2010-05-03: Fuel System. On certain vehicles, should the fuel filter become restricted, the low pressure fuel flange may develop a crack resulting in a fuel leak. Fuel leakage, in the presence of an ignition source, could result in a fire causing property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will replace the low pressure fuel flange with a more robust component.
- [2009294](/recalls/tc/2009294.md), 2009-10-14: Engine. On certain vehicles, the engine grid heater may fail, which could result in a vehicle fire causing property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will reprogram the engine control logic to provide cold weather starting without the need of a grid heater. Wiring to the grid heater will be removed.
- [2009287](/recalls/tc/2009287.md), 2009-10-05: Fuel System. On certain trucks, the plastic low\-pressure fuel line may fatigue crack and leak. Diesel fuel leakage may ignite on a hot engine surface and cause a fire, which could result in property damage, personal injury or death. As well, diesel fuel spilt on the roadway could endanger other road users. Correction: Dealers will replace the plastic low\-pressure fuel line with a steel low\-pressure line.
- [2009270](/recalls/tc/2009270.md), 2009-09-22: Engine. On certain vehicles equipped with a Caterpillar C15 engine, the Variable Valve Actuation \(VVA\) oil line may wear against the P\-clip retaining the oil line. An oil leak could result in a vehicle fire causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Caterpillar dealers will replace the VVA oil line with an updated version.
- [2009169](/recalls/tc/2009169.md), 2009-06-04: Electrical. On certain vehicles, the forward cab crossmember may pinch power cables for the cab\-mounted battery disconnect switch during cab articulation.
