Volvo has identified that the spark plugs may crack due to abnormal combustion. The corrective action is replacement of the spark plugs with a new and improved design.

The oil may leak due to a crack in the plug from the VVT pulley Replace both plugs in both VVT-pulleys according to the attached instruction. This is a Technical Journal: A whining or rattling sound may appear when revving up the engine. ( see attached sample files ). The sound may come from the balance shaft which is fitted in the oil sump area where the noise is most concentrated. A new design of the balance shaft is planned to be introduced 2018-Q2. Replace the balance shaft according the instructions in VIDA. Note: It's extremely important to adjust the new balance shaft with the correct tools according the instructions otherwise the sound may occur again in a short mileage.

ANC = Active Noise Control The vehicle?s radio may be heard in the background on the opposite side (land-side) of a call made from a phone connected to Sensus Connect infotainment via Bluetooth. This happens because the microphone?s phantom feed for ANC is picking up this sound. It is not heard in the vehicle because media/radio audio is muted during the Bluetooth call. The audio heard may come from either FM, AM, or SiriusXM sources.
