The Environmental Protection Agency and California Air Resources Board have determined that Volkswagen vehicles equipped with a 2.0L 4-cylinder TDI engine do not comply with applicable emissions regulations. The emissions control systems on the vehicles will not control emissions under off-cycle conditions as effectively as during the federal test procedure. The extent of the emissions increase under off-cycle conditions depends upon how the vehicles are driven.

Warranty Information (Regularly Scheduled Maintenance Interval Time or Mileage Guidelines): The Volkswagen Customer Experience Team has monitored the claims processed through the Carefree Maintenance (CFM) program from its inception. Their findings reveal that, in many cases, the first maintenance interval service (10K) has been claimed multiple times while subsequent maintenance interval services (20K and 30K), although being performed for the customer, have been submitted erroneously. It is crucial that Volkswagen of America receives accurate claim coding information regarding the Carefree Maintenance (CFM) Program. Accurate claim data enables Volkswagen to assist Dealers to improve their CFM penetration and customer return rates. In addition, it allows VWoA to assess the perceived benefits of the program to our customers. To assist Dealer Service Departments in determining the most appropriate service number and maintenance interval to use, Volkswagen has established the guidelines in this document.

The G397 Rain/light recognition sensor is present on all 2012 Passat vehicles, but this sensor is used only for auto headlamp function.

Tech Tips (Valet Key Operation): This document informs the valet key on the 2012-2013 Passat differs from earlier vehicles. The valet key is used to lock the glove box, ski pass-through door (if equipped), and the emergency seat back release cover only. The valet switch in the glove box can be activated to disable the rear lid release switches (including remote function), and then lock the glove box with the valet key. The customer then keeps the plastic valet key and gives the valet the remote flip key.
