## United States (NHTSA), as of 2026-10-19

- [24V834000](/recalls/nhtsa/24V834000.md), 2024-10-30: AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:DRIVER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULE. Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. \(Volkswagen\) is recalling certain 2017\-2019 Beetle, Beetle Convertible, 2012\-2014 Passat, 2017 Passat Wagon, and 2006\-2007 Passat Sedan vehicles. The driver's side frontal air bag inflator may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long\-term exposure to high absolute humidity, high temperatures, and high temperature cycling.
- [18V247000](/recalls/nhtsa/18V247000.md), 2018-04-18: AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:DRIVER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULE. Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. \(Volkswagen\) is recalling certain 2006\-2007 Volkswagen Passat sedan and wagon vehicles. Upon deployment of the driver's frontal air bag, excessive internal pressure may cause the inflator to explode. Built 2005\-02\-15 to 2006\-11\-17.
- [18V148000](/recalls/nhtsa/18V148000.md), 2018-03-06: AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:DRIVER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULE. ON CERTAIN '6' GENERATION PASSENGER VEHICLES, THE WIPER MOTOR MAY FAIL DURING HEAVY RAIN DUE TO EXCESSIVE MOISTURE ENTERING THE WIPER MOTOR. IF THIS HAPPENS, THE WIPERS CAN BECOME INOPERATIVE. Built 2005\-03\-01 to 2006\-04\-30.

## Canada (Transport Canada), as of 2026-10-19

- [2024649](/recalls/tc/2024649.md), 2024-10-30: Airbag. Issue: On certain vehicles, long\-term exposure to high absolute humidity and temperature, combined with high temperature cycling, may eventually degrade the propellant contained in the driver\-front airbag. This could cause the airbag to deploy with more force than normal. If the airbag inflator ruptures, fragments could be propelled toward vehicle occupants or cause damage to the airbag assembly, preventing its proper function. Safety Risk: If the vehicle is involved in a crash requiring an airbag deployment, the airbag inflator could rupture and create a risk of injury. Corrective Action: Volkswagen will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the driver\-front airbag. Note: The Canadian climate results in the propellant degrading slowly. This recall is being conducted as a precaution to address future risk. It is expected that all airbag inflators will be replaced before their function would be affected.
- [2018192](/recalls/tc/2018192.md), 2018-04-18: Airbag. On certain vehicles, long\-term exposure to high absolute humidity and temperature, combined with high temperature cycling, could eventually degrade the propellant contained in the driver frontal airbag. This could cause the airbag to deploy with more force than normal. As a result, if the vehicle were involved in a collision that warrants airbag deployment, fragments could be propelled toward vehicle occupants, and the airbag assembly could be damaged, preventing proper function. These issues could increase the risk of injury. Correction: Dealers will replace the driver frontal airbag inflator. Note: Canadian climate results in the propellant degrading slowly. The recall is being conducted as a precaution to address future risk, and is expected to replace airbag inflators before their function would be affected. Additional Note: This recall replaces Volkswagen recall 69M8 \(TC 2016\-065\). Volkswagen vehicles that were not repaired under recall 69M8 \(TC 2016\-065\) require repair under this recall.
- [2018111](/recalls/tc/2018111.md), 2018-03-06: Airbag. Additional Note: This recall supersedes the Volkswagen brand vehicles subject to recall 2016\-064 \(Volkswagen Recall 69M9\). Volkswagen vehicles completed under the previous 2016\-064 recall require repair under this recall, as the previous recall remedy was an interim repair. Interim repair parts must be replaced with final repair parts.
- [2017398](/recalls/tc/2017398.md), 2017-08-16: Fuel System. On certain vehicles, there could be an interruption in electrical power to the fuel pump control module. This could result in the fuel pump running continuously, resulting in a drained battery and/or a no start condition, or cause a loss of motive power while the vehicle is in motion, which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will replace the fuel pump control module and relocate it within the vehicle.
- [2016065](/recalls/tc/2016065.md), 2016-02-09: Airbag. On certain vehicles, the driver frontal airbag inflator could produce excessive internal pressure during airbag deployment. Increased pressure may cause the inflator to rupture, which could allow fragments to be propelled toward vehicle occupants, increasing the risk of injury. This could also damage the airbag module, which could prevent proper deployment. Failure of the airbag to fully deploy during a crash \(where deployment is warranted\) could increase the risk of personal injury to the seat occupant. Correction: Dealers will replace the front driver airbag inflator. Note: This only affects the Cabriolet versions of the Audi A4 and S4 models.
- [2016064](/recalls/tc/2016064.md), 2016-02-09: Airbag. Note: This campaign only affects the Audi A5 and Audi S5 Cabriolet models.
- [2006340](/recalls/tc/2006340.md), 2006-12-06: Brakes. On certain Passat and Passat wagon, a vacuum line may fracture and become disconnected at low ambient temperatures. If this happens, brake power assist could become inoperative. As a result, the driver would experience increased effort to apply the brakes and therefore possible increased vehicle stopping distance. This could lead to a crash without warning. Correction: Dealers will install a re\-designed vacuum line.
- [2006339](/recalls/tc/2006339.md), 2006-12-06: Electrical. On certain Passat and Passat wagon, the wiper motor may fail during heavy rain due to moisture intrusion. This could lead to reduced visibility and a crash without warning. Correction: Dealers will install a special cover and sealing kit.
