Service bulletins for the 2012 Volkswagen Jetta

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

1483 on file from NHTSA, as of 2026-10-19.

TT201203b2023-07-10. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE; FUEL SYSTEM, OTHER:STORAGE:FUEL GAUGE SYSTEM. When diagnosing a customer concern of fuel gauge not reading full after fueling, start by checking for the presence of a cover over the fuel tank vent as shown in the picture below. Vent is located on filler neck and can be inspected by removing fuel door assembly. If cover is found over vent, inspect for damage to fuel tank and replace tank if needed. Ensure cover is not present on replacement fuel tank. If fuel tank is not damaged, remove cover over fuel tank vent and retest for customer concern. If cover is not present over vent, continue with normal diagnosis.

When diagnosing a customer concern of fuel gauge not reading full after fueling, start by checking for the presence of a transport cover over the fuel tank vent as shown in the picture below. TT2009062023-07-10. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:DIESEL; FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:GASOLINE:TURBO/SUPERCHARGER. Use the diagram below to test the N75 Solenoid Valve in the event of a turbocharger fault code such as P0299 or P0234. This applies to Mechanical Injection Style Diesel Engines, Pumpe Duse Style Diesel Engines and the new Common Rail Style Diesel Engines.
TT1913022023-07-10. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Inspect the water pump for signs of contact with engine oil. Engine oil may cause the water pump gasket to swell, which may lead to a coolant leak. If water pump replacement is necessary, ensure that any engine oil is thoroughly cleaned off, prior to water pump installation. Please note that when replacing the water pump or opening the cooling system, there is a special bleed procedure that has to be performed. Vacuum bleed the cooling system for 10 minutes. Start the engine and let idle until the thermostat opens and the cooling fan runs, before driving vehicle or raising engine RPM.
TT1913012023-07-10. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. After a cold start, the engine coolant temperature gauge will slowly rise to approximately 190° F. When the F265 mapped thermostat opens, the gauge may drop by approximately 60° F before again rising to 190° F. No repairs should be attempted for this normal concern. F265 is pictured below.
TT1712022023-07-10. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. An oil leak from around the oil drain plug noted after oil change, and/or drain plug replacement, may be caused by installation of incorrect drain plug. Correct part number drain plug is based on the oil pan design as shown below. Original drain plug is 18mm hex for both style oil pans.
TT131301a2023-07-10. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. When servicing the timing chain sprocket or removing the vibration damper, be aware that one bolt holds both the vibration damper (harmonic balancer) and the crankshaft timing chain sprocket to the crankshaft. Once the damper is removed, the crankshaft should not be rotated unless special tool spacer T10368 has been installed. The crankshaft timing chain sprocket and spur gear drive on the crankshaft have a coupling that must be seated correctly during assembly. Failure to install special tool spacer T10368 before rotating engine will cause the engine to skip time and bend valves.
TT1313012023-07-10. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; POWER TRAIN. CBFA 2.0T TSI Engine
TT011401a2023-07-10. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Install a vacuum gauge on the dipstick tube and check crankcase vacuum at idle. Compare to a known good vehicle. If the vacuum reading is lower than the comparison vehicle, visually inspect for oil leaks between the engine and the transmission. Smoke test the crankcase by connecting the EVAP smoke machine to the dipstick tube and inspect for leaks at the rear main seal (this will limit pressure to 2 PSI). DO NOT apply shop air to the dipstick tube or the crankcase. If a rear main seal leak is identified, replace the seal. Once replaced, recheck crankcase vacuum at idle. If low, check for additional oil leaks and verify crankcase breather operation (repairing as necessary). Erase the faults and road test 10 miles to recheck operation.
