Service bulletins for the 2004 Toyota Tundra

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

T-TT-0254-132018-04-02. Service bulletin. AIR BAGS. The technical instructions for Safety Recall DOF (Front Passenger Airbag Inflator Module) require a Techstream Health Check and then a Diagnostic Report (Customer Friendly Health Check.) During the Health Check, a TIS Access Error (S309-10) dialog box may be displayed for certain Model and Model Year vehicles listed in the applicable vehicle section.
T-TT-0269-132018-04-02. Service bulletin. VISIBILITY:GLASS, SIDE/REAR. The appearance of spots in tempered glass (when viewed at certain angles) is the result of the heat treating and quick quenching process during manufacturing.
T-SB-0071-11 Rev2018-04-02. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. The purpose of this service bulletin is to provide precautions to follow when installing an automatic transmission/transaxle assembly to avoid MIL ?ON,? shifting issues, and/or transmission damage. Use the information in this bulletin when installing an automatic transmission/transaxle assembly
T-SB-0122-11 Rev2018-04-02. Service bulletin. AIR BAGS; SEATS; EQUIPMENT. Beginning in 1998, Toyota introduced side airbags as optional equipment. Toyota does NOT recommend replacement of original seat covers with non-Toyota leather or other seat cover materials on vehicles due to the following: Seat covers NOT recommended by Toyota may affect side airbag performance, in general or in part, during an accident. Modifications that negatively affect side airbag performance can result in severe occupant injuries. Seat covers are an integral part of this safety system. Replacing fabric seat covers with non-Toyota leather or other seat cover materials may compromise the effectiveness of this safety system. The design of the seat is complex, integrating safety and strength with comfort and luxury. Toyota strongly discourages modifying original equipment seats that have optional side airbags. Additionally, Toyota strongly advises against the installation or use of aftermarket seat covers, which could impair the performance of the side airbags in the event of an accident.
TS-BO030-01 Obso2018-04-02. Service bulletin. VISIBILITY/WIPER. This bulletin is now obsolete. Please see T-SB-0185-13.
T-SB-0185-132018-04-02. Service bulletin. VISIBILITY. The following procedures are recommended during routine maintenance or in the event of a customer concern for wiper performance.
T-SB-0142-132018-04-02. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:AIR CONDITIONER. Some 2004 ? 2014 model year Toyota vehicles may exhibit odors naturally occurring from the HVAC system and/or related environmental factors. Although there is no way to eliminate these odors, follow the General Procedure in this bulletin to minimize the odors experienced.
T-SB-0141-132018-04-02. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; PARKING BRAKE. A new Special Service Tool (SST 09709-00002) has been introduced to aid in the inspection procedure for certain vehicles equipped with a floor pedal-type parking brake system. This bulletin references the correct method for installing the Brake Pedal Force Gauge. Refer to the appropriate Repair Manual for parking brake pedal travel inspection and adjustment specification.
LSC DOD2018-04-02. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE. Toyota will initiate a Limited Service Campaign (LSC D0D) to inspect and, based upon Toyota?s inspection criteria, apply Corrosion-Resistant Compounds (CRC) to key areas of the frame assembly of certain 2004-2006 model year Tundra vehicles without significant rust perforation until July 31, 2015. This campaign covers vehicles currently registered in the following cold climate states and the District of Columbia (D.C.) (together, ?Cold Climate States?): CT, DE, IL, IN, KY, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, NH, NJ, NY, OH, PA, RI, VA, VT, WI & WV
T-TT-0213-132018-04-02. Service bulletin. AIR BAGS. Toyota vehicles are equipped with Supplemental Restraint Systems (SRS), including various airbags and in some models, seat belt pre-tensioners, to help reduce the risk of injury in a collision. If a customer expresses any concerns that the SRS airbags or pre-tensioner devices did not perform as expected (including an unintended deployment event), please follow the steps in the recommendations section below.
T-SB-0187-12 Rev2018-04-02. Service bulletin. TIRES. Toyota vehicles are equipped with either conventional or run-flat tires. Sometimes punctures may occur as a result of contact with road debris or other hazards. If a puncture occurs, it may be possible to repair the tire and return it to service. With a conventional tire it is not possible to drive for an extended amount of time with the tire at low pressures as damage to the tire may occur. With run-flat tires, due to reinforced sidewalls, it is possible to drive for up to 100 miles (160 km) at speeds less than 55 mph (90 km/h) with little or no damage to the tire.

LSC DOD - Dealer2018-04-02. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE. Toyota has received reports that certain 2004 through 2006 model year Tundra vehicles operated in specific cold climate areas with high road salt usage may exhibit more-than-normal corrosion to the vehicle?s frame. Toyota investigated these reports and determined that the frames in some vehicles may not have corrosion resistant protection sufficient for use in these areas. This, combined with prolonged exposure to road salts and other environmental factors, may contribute to the development of more than normal rust in the frame of some vehicles. This condition is unrelated to and separate from normal surface rust which is commonly found on metallic surfaces after some years of usage and/or exposure to the environment.

The summaries are NHTSA's. Each bulletin's page links NHTSA's copy of the manufacturer's document.
