Service bulletins for the 2011 Toyota Tacoma

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

ZH2_Dealer Daily2018-07-16. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT. Dealer Daily Message: Certain U-joint kits (campaign part # 04007-13204) used in Customer Support Program ZH2 may have been produced without the appropriate amount of grease. These parts should not be installed on vehicles. Previously we requested that dealers return their current stock of this part number that does not have a GREEN dot on the box and on the U-joint as indicated in the photos on the following page. The supplier is now marking this part number with a BLUE dot on the U-joint, and no marking on the box as indicated in the photo on the following page. If either of these markings ARE NOT present, dealers should return the part. If either of these marking ARE NOT present, your facing PDC (Parts Distribution Center) may create a manual R8 exception return for these parts, and you can return them to your facing PDC for credit. Toyota is working to stock new inventory of these parts. Note that grease should not be added to these U-joint kits. They are designed to have the appropriate amount of grease applied during production and are non-serviceable.

TSB: The breather plug should be replaced during any differential/transfer case repairs to prevent possible repeat failures. Replace the breather plug when replacing differential/transfer case components.

These stains appear to be under the clear coat (repainting this area is not necessary). The stain patterns are usually under wrinkles in the Rapgard?. These wrinkles sometimes trap water and cause the paint to stain from the trapped moisture, especially on horizontal surfaces, such as the hood, roof, and trunk. Stains can be removed by heating the stained surface to remove the trapped moisture.
T-SB-0040-182018-06-18. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE:BODY:BUMPERS. TSB: Referencing this Service Bulletin provides best practice procedures when reassembling and installing the front shock absorber with coil spring. Some 2005 - 2015 model year Tacoma vehicles with applicable VDS have a different coil spring diameter. This may lead to a lateral force applied to the support plate upon reassembly of the front shock absorber with coil spring assembly. This may cause the inner rubber sleeve of the support plate to pull out when spring tension is released and the support plate to tilt. NOTE This Service Bulletin ONLY provides best practices for front shock absorber with coil spring assembly. The Repair Manual MUST be referenced with this bulletin when performing front shock absorber with coil spring assembly replacement.

T-TT-0086-112018-04-23. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. TechTip: Condition - The vehicle may be difficult to start or have an abnormally low or rough idle after the battery has been disconnected or power to the Engine ECM has been interrupted.
F0U_Supplemental2018-04-23. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM:EMISSION CONTROL:CATALYTIC CONVERTOR. TI: Background-In the subject vehicles the front catalytic converter internal components may become deteriorated and begin to rattle. If continually operated in this condition, the deteriorated components could become dislodged and restrict the exhaust flow. If this occurs, the vehicle may illuminate a check engine light, and, depending on the level of exhaust restriction, the vehicle may experience a reduction in power. Toyota has developed a new exhaust pipe with catalytic converters to prevent this condition from occurring.

The summaries are NHTSA's. Each bulletin's page links NHTSA's copy of the manufacturer's document.
