Service bulletins for the 2008 Toyota Tacoma
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

DL: Condition * Toyota has received reports that certain 2005 through 2008 model year Tacoma vehicles operated in specific cold climate areas (Cold Climate States) with high road salt usage may exhibit more-than-normal corrosion to the vehicle's frame. * Toyota investigated these reports and determined that the frames in some vehicles may not have corrosion-resistant protection sufficient for use in these areas. * This combined with prolonged exposure to road salts and other environmental factors, may contribute to the development of more-than-normal rust in the frame of some vehicles. * This condition is unrelated to and separate from normal surface rust which is commonly found on metallic surfaces after some years of usage and/or exposure to the environment. |
| T-SB-0040-08 | 2017-08-14. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE:BODY. TSB: On some vehicles, when Rapgard is removed, the paint may have a stained appearance. These stains appear to be under the clear coat (repainting this area is not necessary). The stain patterns are usually under wrinkles in the Rapgard. These wrinkles sometimes trap water and cause the paint to stain from the trapped moisture, especially on horizontal surfaces, such as the hood, roof, and trunk. Stains can be removed by heating the stained surface to remove the trapped moisture. |
| E0D_Dealer Daily | 2017-08-14. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE; STRUCTURE:FRAME AND MEMBERS. Dealer Daily: Due to limited availability of 05 - 08 Tacoma frame activity parts, Toyota will be implementing a new ordering process for all future frame and ancillary part orders. Beginning January 28th, 2015 it will be mandatory for all dealers to order the frame and all required ancillary parts for each vehicle using the same order reference number. Many ancillary parts will be placed on MAC due to backorder condition and will be released once the frame is ready to be shipped to the dealership. There will be no additional requirements by the dealership for the release of the MAC parts. |
