SYSTEM: FUEL TANK ASSEMBLY.VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: MULTI\-PURPOSE VEHICLE.DESCRIPITON OF DEFECT: CERTAIN HIGH TEMPERATURES AND LOADING EFFECTSCAN CREATE HIGH PRESSURE IN THE FUEL TANK. THE RESULTANT STRESS CANCAUSE EXCESSIVE LOAD TO THE FUEL TANK SEPARATOR WELD ATTACHMENTS TO THE INTERIOROF THE TANK, WHICH CAN RESULT IN CRACKS IN THE FUEL TANK AND FUEL LEAKAGE. Built 1980\-09\-01 to 1989\-12\-01.

Continuous driving of gasoline vehicles under conditions of high ambient temperatures and heavy load, can create high pressure in the fuel tank. This could eventually cause a crack and possibly result in fuel leakage. Correction: fuel tank will be replaced with an improved version.
