Service bulletins for the 2010 Subaru Outback
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.
319 on file from NHTSA, as of 2026-10-19.

| 16-100-16 | 2018-06-11. Service bulletin. ENGINE; EQUIPMENT; POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM/PCM/TECM). This bulletin announces availability of reprogramming files to optimize the TCM. The files will address customer concerns of inconsistency in the amount of engine braking experienced when using Manual mode (or paddle shifters if equipped) when descending long downgrades. 2.5L NA models. |

| 16-90-13R | 2018-06-11. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:CLUTCH ASSEMBLY:PEDAL/HAND LEVER(MOTORCYCLE); ENGINE; EQUIPMENT; POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:TORQUE CONVERTER; POWER TRAIN. CVT Transmissions only. This bulletin announces the availability of a countermeasure torque converter assembly to address a customer concern of very low engine RPM when coming to a stop. The condition is similar to coming to a stop in a manual transmission equipped vehicle without depressing the clutch pedal. Thrust washer wear inside the torque converter can cause restriction of the oil passage used to bleed off lock-up clutch application pressure. The result is either a delayed (momentary low engine rpm) or no lock-up pressure release. The thrust washer has been changed from a solid bushing-type to a needle bearing type. |
| 02-172-18R | 2018-06-11. Service bulletin. ENGINE; EQUIPMENT. This bulletin provides details regarding a new oil filler tube o-ring developed to address engine oil seepage concerns. This seepage may accumulate along the bottom sealing surface of the rocker cover. The new o-ring utilizes material which has an increased resistance to engine heat. |

| 16-101-16 | 2018-06-04. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. This bulletin announces a production process change to the starter ring gear portion of the torque converter assembly. To address customer concerns of a squeaking-type sound heard while cranking the engine, a change to improve anti-wear characteristics of the ring gear was made. |
| WVU31R | 2018-04-02. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. 2.5 Liter N/A engine only. REVISED. Subaru of America, Inc. has determined that vehicles affected by this Service Program require ECM reprogramming. A modification to the Engine Control Module software logic has been developed to improve the performance of the emission control system. This software change will not adversely affect fuel economy or performance. This software update is intended to improve vehicle emissions when the vehicle is operated in cold weather and the engine is turned off and restarted within short periods of time such as in several minute intervals. The A/F sensor contains a heating element, which is controlled by the ECM, and which assists the sensor in reaching an optimum temperature, resulting in better accuracy. When the vehicle is operated under the conditions described above, there could be a longer than desired delay in the ECM?s turning on the A/F sensor heating element, resulting in higher than desired emissions. This software enhancement will correct that condition. |
| 02-164-16 | 2017-08-14. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. This Service Information bulletin announces a design change to the internal contact portion of the oil pressure switch to increase durability |
| 02-162-15 | 2017-02-27. Service bulletin. ENGINE. "THIS SERVICE INFORMATION BULLETIN ANNOUNCES A DESIGN CHANGE TO THE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH ASSEMBLY. NICKEL PLATING HAS BEEN APPLIED TO THE INTERNAL SWITCH CONTACTS TO ENHANCE THEIR DURABILITY AND REDUCE THE POSSIBILITY OF POOR CONTACT WHICH COULD AFFECT OPERATION OR CAUSE IMPROPER ILLUMINATION OF THE OIL PRESSURE WARNING LAMP. A SMALL PILOT PORTION WAS ADDED TO THE THREADED AREA ON P.N. 25240KA051 AS SHOWN IN THE ILLUSTRATION BELOW." |
| 16-95-15 | 2017-02-22. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION; ENGINE. "THIS BULLETIN PROVIDES A DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE FOR CONFIRMATION OF A SUSPECTED CVT CHAIN SLIP CONDITION. EXAMPLES OF CUSTOMER CONCERNS MAY BE: ABNORMAL TRANSMISSION OPERATING SOUNDS, A SHUDDER OR VIBRATION SENSATION, LACK OF POWER, HESITATION, ENGINE RPM RISE WITHOUT INCREASE IN VEHICLE SPEED OR IN ISOLATED CASES, A CHECK ENGINE LAMP ILLUMINATION (WITH ENGINE MISFIRE DTCS STORED IN THE ECM MEMORY)." |
| 02-155-14 | 2016-11-21. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:COOLING SYSTEM:HOSES/LINES/PIPING/FITTINGS. THIS BULLETIN ANNOUNCES AVAILABILITY OF A REVISED REPLACEMENT AIR INTAKE DUCT FOR THE TURBOCHARGED VEHICLES SPECIFIED. |
