Service bulletins for the 2011 Subaru Legacy

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

This Service Information bulletin announces availability of a new control valve assembly (valve body) designed to prevent false detection of DTC P0841 and / or illumination of the AT Temp light. Testing has revealed in some limited cases, air bubbles (aerated fluid) may enter certain pressure circuits within the control valve assembly causing fluid pressure control and adjustment to be calculated incorrectly resulting in DTC P0841. The shape of these circuits has been changed to prevent this occurrence.

16-103-16R2019-03-11. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. This bulletin has been developed in response to a small number of customer concerns regarding fluid seepage found coming from the CVT assembly. Investigation has identified a likely source of the seepage to be the sealant used on the CVT?s oil pump chain cover. The repair involves removal, a thorough cleaning and inspection of the sealing surfaces followed by re-sealing the cover.
WTV-812018-12-10. Service bulletin. PARKING BRAKE; EQUIPMENT. Subaru of America, Inc. (Subaru) is recalling all 2010-2014 model year Legacy and Outback vehicles equipped with a manual transmission (M/T), to replace the electronic parking brake (EPB) actuator assembly. However, they will be covered under an extended warranty. Details of the extended warranty coverage will be forthcoming.
03-82-182018-12-10. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; POWER TRAIN. This Service Information bulletin announces a design change to the clutch release bearing used on the models as listed above. During assembly of the bearing, a different type of grease is used which has a higher resistance to heat. In cases where the operator keeps a foot on the clutch pedal for extended periods, an increased amount of heat is generated which can cause the grease inside the bearing to deteriorate. In a case of prolonged clutch pedal application, seizure of the bearing can occur with potential damage to other related components.

07-131-18R2018-07-16. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. This bulletin provides a measurement and adjustment procedure for the stop lamp switch. An improperly adjusted (or faulty) stop lamp switch can cause any of the DTCs listed to set and result in the related system?s (e. g. VDC and/or EyeSight) warning lamp to illuminate.
02-160-152018-06-18. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. This Service Information bulletin provides revised procedures for inspection and measurement of the cylinder block assembly to determine whether or not replacement is necessary. Read through and understand this information completely before proceeding with any repairs to the cylinder block. All Models with FA and FB Engines, 2011MY and Later.

We advise you to always refer to the STIS web site when looking for the latest Service information. Printed pages will not be made available to update printed Service Manuals.
16-100-162018-06-11. Service bulletin. ENGINE; EQUIPMENT; POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM/PCM/TECM). This bulletin announces availability of reprogramming files to optimize the TCM. The files will address customer concerns of inconsistency in the amount of engine braking experienced when using Manual mode (or paddle shifters if equipped) when descending long downgrades. 2.5L NA models.
01-168-09R2018-06-11. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; EQUIPMENT; EQUIPMENT:OTHER:OWNERS/SERVICE/OTHER MANUAL. Revised TSB. The Subaru Lock Information Site (SLIS) is located at http://lockinfo.subaru.com, and provides information on how to obtain immobilizer codes and key cut codes for Subaru vehicles from the 2000MY to present. This bulletin identifies the equipment required to initialize (reset) the immobilizer code and cut the key blanks, for both immobilizer and non-immobilizer type keys. Subaru of America began using immobilizer systems in some 2005MY vehicles (please refer to Immobilizer Chart for more detailed information).
16-90-13R2018-06-11. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN:CLUTCH ASSEMBLY:PEDAL/HAND LEVER(MOTORCYCLE); ENGINE; EQUIPMENT; POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:TORQUE CONVERTER; POWER TRAIN. CVT Transmissions only. This bulletin announces the availability of a countermeasure torque converter assembly to address a customer concern of very low engine RPM when coming to a stop. The condition is similar to coming to a stop in a manual transmission equipped vehicle without depressing the clutch pedal. Thrust washer wear inside the torque converter can cause restriction of the oil passage used to bleed off lock-up clutch application pressure. The result is either a delayed (momentary low engine rpm) or no lock-up pressure release. The thrust washer has been changed from a solid bushing-type to a needle bearing type.
02-172-18R2018-06-11. Service bulletin. ENGINE; EQUIPMENT. This bulletin provides details regarding a new oil filler tube o-ring developed to address engine oil seepage concerns. This seepage may accumulate along the bottom sealing surface of the rocker cover. The new o-ring utilizes material which has an increased resistance to engine heat.

07-91-152018-06-11. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; VISIBILITY; VISIBILITY:WINDSHIELD WIPER/WASHER:SWITCH/WIRING. This bulletin announces a replacement wiper switch assembly to address customer concerns of the wipers not parking correctly or moving intermittently, even when the control switch is off. Testing revealed moisture being retained in a composition of soldering flux and grease used during switch manufacturing may be forced out under extreme high-temperature conditions. If this moisture causes intermittent continuity between terminals, a circuit may close and power the wiper motor. A special sealer has been applied to the soldered terminals of the switch?s printed circuit board during production to prevent this condition from occurring.

New Subaru Recall Campaigns TKA-16, TKB-16, TKC-16 covering all non-desiccated frontal Takata PSAN inflators. Each phase of the expansions will address the most at risk vehicles first and is divided into three geographic zones based on temperature fluctuations and humidity and the exposure time required under those environmental conditions to degrade the propellant to the point where it poses an unreasonable risk to safety.

The summaries are NHTSA's. Each bulletin's page links NHTSA's copy of the manufacturer's document.
