Service bulletins for the 2014 Porsche Cayman
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| 122-B9V4V-06 | 2018-06-25. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:OTHER:OWNERS/SERVICE/OTHER MANUAL. Information: The Approval and Support Management system was created to offer assistance to the dealer organization with new and complex technical issues by utilizing the Support Specialists within Porsche R&D. As a result, this process has reduced vehicle downtime and repeat repairs substantially. |
| 122-S7H6V-03 | 2018-03-13. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:12V/24V/48V BATTERY. Concerns: Battery trickle charging with "Charge-o-mat"may time out within a short period of time. The trickle charging will thus end prematurely. Thismay result in a dead battery. Information: The ?Charge-o-mat? device recommended by Porsche can be connected to the plug socket in the above-mentioned vehicles again in accordance with instructions in order to trickle-charge the battery (e.g. in the showroom) if: ? the gateway control unit is re-coded beforehand using the PIWIS Tester with test software version 36.800.030 installed. |
| 122-F3A8L-09 | 2018-01-29. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. This campaign includes steps where control unit(s) in the vehicle will be programmed with the PIWIS Tester. The vehicle voltage must be maintained between 13.5 volts and 14.5 volts during this programming. Failure to maintain this voltage could result in damaged control unit(s). Damage caused by inadequate voltage during programming is not a warrantable defect. The technician must verify the actual vehicle voltage in the PIWIS Tester before starting the campaign and also document the actual voltage on the repair order. Please refer to Equipment Information EQ1401 for a list of suitable battery chargers/power supplies which should be used to maintain vehicle voltage. Due to a software error in the gateway control unit, the optional lightweight battery (lithium-ion battery) - if installed in the vehicle - will not charge using the Porsche Charge-o-mat Pro charger when this is used via the cigarette lighter or 12-volt plug socket in the vehicle. As a result, the lightweight battery can go flat if the vehicle is parked up for a long time. The charging function works, however, if the charger is connected directly to the vehicle battery using the optional clamp adapter. |
| 122-T7Y5Q-12 | 2017-12-14. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Information: This document updates information previously published in EQ 1105, EQ 1105, and EQ 1401. To provide stable voltage and sufficient current throughout certain service operations, you should connect the vehicle to a battery charger (sometimes referred to as a power supply). However, you may experience ECU programming and coding issues if the chosen battery charger has insufficient power. Many workshop manuals currently advise use of a battery charger with a 40 or 70 A current rating. However, with the increasing current requirements of modern Porsche vehicles, we recommend a battery charger capable of producing a minimum current of 90 A. |
| 122-N9Z4L-07 | 2017-10-27. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:12V/24V/48V BATTERY. Concerns: AGM starter battery (referred to below simply as 'battery') Situation: Support for the care andmaintenance of the AGMstarter battery (at the dealership): From the time the vehicle is delivered to the Porsche Centre until it is handed over to the customer, the battery must be maintained and charged regularly, depending on use. |
| 122-R7W2C-07 | 2017-10-27. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:12V/24V/48V BATTERY. Concerns: AGM starter battery (referred to below simply as ?battery?) Situation: Customer complaints concerning battery-related topics Recurring customer complaints concerning topics relating to battery capacity and quality. |
| 122-L4C8W-07 | 2017-10-27. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE; WHEELS. Information: 911 and 718 models have differences in the front end structure which depend on whether the vehicle has a two wheel drive or an all wheel drive body shell. |
| 122-W4G8S-10 | 2017-10-15. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:12V/24V/48V BATTERY; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Technical Concern: By design, the vehicle gateway allows certain vehicle features to time-out, in stages. This allows the vehicle to sleep. One feature that can time-out is the 12 V DC power point (cigarette lighter) in the center console area. One of the recommended methods of using the battery maintainer is to plug the battery maintainer into this power point. If this power point becomes disabled, it will not allow current flow from the battery maintainer to the vehicle, the vehicle battery will not trickle charge, and the battery maintainer will eventually shut off. |
| 122-H4U2R-06 | 2017-09-14. Service bulletin. LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES:HOOD:LATCH. Concerns: Upper part of lock on front lid Information: This is to inform you of a Recall Campaign on the above-mentioned vehicles. Due to a temporary manufacturing error, there is a possibility that front lid lock upper parts, on which the catch bar was not riveted to themounting plate according to specifications, were installed on the affected vehicles. The durability of the upper part of the lock cannot be guaranteed over the service life of the affected vehicles and the risk of the lid opening unintentionally cannot be ruled out. |
| 122-G7H3U-06 | 2017-09-14. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANEL. Concerns: Instrument cluster Information: This is to inform you of a voluntary Workshop Campaign on the above-mentioned vehicles. The following fault symptoms can occur on the affected vehicles due to a software error in the instrument cluster: * Failure of the display on the multi-function display: The display on the multi-function display in the instrument cluster can stop working at times under certain conditions. The display starts working again after a certain time. * Implausible service reminder indicator display: The driver is informed that a service (maintenance, intermediate maintenance or oil service) is due although the mileage and date for a required service have not yet been reached. |
| 122-Q2E5G-06 | 2017-09-14. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY:FILLER PIPE AND CAP. Concerns: Switching element for filler flap Information: This is to inform you of a voluntary Workshop Campaign on the above-mentioned vehicles. Defective switching elements for the filler flap may have been installed on the affected vehicles due to a supplier error. This can cause the switching element to become mechanically blocked. If this happens, there is no guarantee that the filler flap will open correctly. |
