Mazda North American Operations \(Mazda\) is recalling certain model year 1989\-1998 MPV, 1990\-1995 323, 1990\-1998 Protege, 1992\-1993 MX\-3, 1993\-1995 929, 1993\-1997 MX\-6, and 1993\-1998 626 vehicles.  In the affected vehicles, grease applied to the contact points inside the ignition switch may become conductive and overheat. Built 1992\-09\-01 to 1997\-05\-30.

THESE VEHICLES CAN EXPERIENCE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENTS IN MINOR UNDERCARRIAGE IMPACTS. Built 1994\-06\-01 to 1996\-09\-10.

- [1999057](/recalls/tc/1999057.md), 1999-04-14: Fuel System. Certain vehicles do not comply with the requirements of CMVSS 1105 \- Evaporative Emissions.  Fuel vapour may leak from between the fuel cap and the fuel filler pipe.  The gap could be generated by improper dimensions between the top ends of the inner and outer pipe of the  fuel filler pipe.  In some cases, raw fuel would be released into the atmosphere.  Correction:  Dealers will install a modified fuel cap o\-ring.
- [1998203](/recalls/tc/1998203.md), 1998-10-21: Seats And Restraints. On certain vehicles, minor undercarriage impacts can result in unnecessary air bag deployment.  This could result in personal injury and/or loss of vehicle control.  Correction: Dealers will reprogram the sas unit to reduce the possibility of unnecessary deployments in low speed undercarriage impacts.
