01-009-16-31722021-01-28. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Some vehicles may experience a rough idle with the check engine light on and DTC P0015 / P0524 stored in memory. P0015:00 - Exhaust CMP timing over-retarded, P0524:00 - Engine oil pressure too low. This is caused by a drop in engine oil pressure due to a piece of foreign object stuck on the oil pump pressure relief valve or oil control valve (OCV). The temporary entry of the foreign object triggers a check engine light on, but rough idle will not be produced until a later time.
01-002-172021-01-25. Service bulletin. AIR BAGS; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM. When the engine is started for the first time after parking the vehicle overnight in cold conditions (below 32 degrees Fahrenheit/0 degrees Celsious). Customers having this cocern should have their vehicle repaired using the ffollowifng repair procedure.
MT-005-202020-12-03. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Some customers may complain about high engine oil consumption. Before attempting any repairs, verify the complaint by using the guideline below to determine if an engine repair is necessary: Engine Oil Consumption Inspection Guideline 1. Record the vehicle mileage. 2. Engine at normal operating temperature, top off engine oil level to the full mark on the dipstick. 3. Ask the customer to return to the dealer after 1200 miles to recheck the engine oil level. 4. After 1200 miles, engine at normal operating temperature, check the engine oil level on the dipstick. 5. Is the engine oil level above the low mark on the dipstick? • Yes - No repair is necessary. • No - Proceed to MGSS online or Workshop Manual (section 01-03 NO. 16 HIGH OIL CONSUMPTION/LEAKAGE).
SA-071-202020-11-04. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Currently, the instructions on MGSS recommend the use of Loctite 962T or equivalent when installing a SKYACTIV cylinder head, but it is no longer available. The following 3 adhesives are alternatives available as an equivalent to Loctite 962T: Loctite 272, Loctite 518 Threebond TB-1386H
01-011-20-37342020-09-01. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Some customers may complain about an unusual noise coming from the engine compartment for about 20 seconds after a cold engine start. This noise is a normal engine operation for improved exhaust gas emissions. The noise does not indicate a malfunction. ACCELERATED WARM-UP SYSTEM (AWS): All SKYACTIV-G engines adopt AWS to reduce exhaust gas emissions immediately after a cold engine start. AWS increases the engine idling speed and retards the ignition timing for about 20 seconds after the cold engine start to quickly warm up the catalytic converter. The customer may identify the engine sound during the AWS operation as a unusual noise.
05-003-20-37252020-08-04. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; POWER TRAIN; EQUIPMENT; ENGINE. Some vehicles may experience the check engine light and automatic transaxle warning light ON with one or more of these DTCs stored in the TCM memory (P0842, P0847, P0872, P0877, P0780, P1738). This is caused by the oil pressure switch A and/or B at the control valve body temporarily or permanently getting stuck due to contamination entering the passage. To correct the problem, some mass production changes have been implemented to reduce contamination and improve the DTC diagnostic logic.
00-001-20-36892020-04-03. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC; POWER TRAIN; EQUIPMENT:OTHER:OWNERS/SERVICE/OTHER MANUAL; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Mazda has developed factory recommended scheduled maintenance services that support all major vehicle systems. Mazda recommends dealers follow the scheduled maintenance tables as cited in the vehicle specific workshop manual or owner's manual. Services performed outside of Mazda's factory scheduled maintenance are not recommended. These services are unnecessary and create unneeded expenses for your customers.
SA-009-202020-01-30. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; STRUCTURE. LACK OF POWER UNDER HEAVY LOAD WITH NO WARNING LIGHTS OR DTCS: Some customers may complain of a lack of power under heavy load without any warning lights or DTCs. This concern may be due to a loose or detached hood weatherstrip, which can cause a blockage or restriction in the air intake system.
SA-053-192019-12-21. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; POWER TRAIN. GUIDE LINES AND PHOTOS TO DETERMINE IF FLUID/OIL SEEPAGE OR LEAK IS SEVERE ENOUGH TO REQUIRE WARRANTY REPAIR OR TO CLEAN AND MONITOR. Some customer's might state that they notice fluid or oil leaking/dripping on the ground when the vehicle is parked. For this concern, inspect the vehicle for any trace of a fluid or oil leak and use the following examples as a guide to determine if it is severe enough to require a repair, or just to clean the area and monitor it at the next service.
MT-002-192019-12-20. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; EQUIPMENT. If an engine assembly is replaced after a catastrophic internal mechanical failure, clean the intake manifold internally before installing a replacement engine assembly. If the intake manifold is not cleaned properly, the replacement engine may fail prematurely. Metallic debris from the old engine (with catastrophic internal mechanical failure) may rest inside the intake manifold. When the new engine assembly is installed, debris in the intake manifold will be ingested into the new engine and cause internal damage.
01-022-19-36572019-12-20. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; EQUIPMENT; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. There is a concern that some water pumps are being replaced that are not faulty, due to signs of a very small coolant leak from the bleed hole. This Service Bulletin is to inform you about the water pump sealing mechanism and the criteria if replacement is necessary or not.
01-019-19-36282019-12-05. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Some vehicles may exhibit oil leakage from the drive belt auto tensioner and rattling noises from the engine compartment. This may be caused by insufficient sealing at the drive belt auto tensioner damper when the auto tensioner fully operates under both high ambient temperature and high load conditions. To eliminate this concern, the shape of the drive belt auto tensioner damper has been changed.
MT-004-192019-11-24. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; EQUIPMENT; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some customers may complain about: • Intermittent engine no start • Instrument cluster red security indicator light ON • Engine Start/Start Button Amber indicator light flashing • Battery discharge • Electrical relay buzzing noise • DTC B13D3:94 (Communication error with remote transmitter) stored. This may be caused by: • A key in a purse near a cell phone. The cell phone radio waves may interrupt the immobilizer system. • An aftermarket cell phone charger. The charger may produce electrical noise that interrupts the immobilizer system. • An aftermarket GPS tracker. Some aftermarket devices that are wired to the vehicles’s wiring harness may create unusual electrical symptoms.
SA-048-192019-11-21. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EQUIPMENT. Some customers may expierience one or more of the following: • intermittent no start • engine stall • many DTC's stored • no communication with the PCM. This may be caused by a poor C-11 or C-12 electrical connection.
MT-003-192019-10-30. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Some customers may complain about high engine oil consumption. Before attempting any repairs, verify the complaint by using the guideline below to determine if an engine repair is necessary:
MT-002-192019-10-04. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM:MANIFOLD/HEADER/MUFFLER/TAIL PIPE.
SA-040-192019-09-23. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE:BODY:HOOD; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Some customers may complain of a lack of power under heavy load without any warning lights or DTCs. This concern may be due to a loose or detached hood weatherstrip, which can cause a blockage or restriction in the air intake system.
01-016-19-36272019-08-30. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Some vehicles may experience a rough idle with the check engine light on and DTC P0015 / P0524 stored in memory. P0015:00 - Exhaust CMP timing over-retarded. P0524:00 - Engine oil pressure too low. This is caused by a drop in engine oil pressure due to a piece of foreign object stuck on the oil pump pressure relief valve or oil control valve (OCV). The temporary entry of the foreign object triggers a check engine light on, but rough idle will not be produced until a later time.
05-003-19-35932019-05-30. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. When pressing the START/STOP button, the ignition may not turn off on some vehicles equipped with a gate-type AT shifter. Although the shift lever is in “P” position and the engine shuts off normally, the ignition may stay on (in accessory mode). Some customers may describe this concern as "the radio stays on" or "the radio is staying on". This concern may be caused by a worn switch unit. To eliminate this concern, the switch unit material has been changed to improve wear resistance. Modified switch units have been established as new service parts.
00-003-19-35832019-03-21. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY; FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; EQUIPMENT. In support of the new MRT distribution, Mazda will ship to dealers a new Dual Purpose Diagnostic Leak Detector beginning March, 2019. 01-007-19-35412019-02-19. Service bulletin. ENGINE. When the engine is started for the first time after parking the vehicle overnight in cold conditions (below 32 degrees Fahrenheit / 0 degrees Celsius), some vehicles may exhibit a rough idle and/or the check engine light on with any of the following DTC(s) stored in memory. P0300 - Random misfire detected P0301 - Cylinder No. 1 misfire detected P0302 - Cylinder No. 2 misfire detected P0303 - Cylinder No. 3 misfire detected P0304 - Cylinder No.4 misfire detected. This may be caused by frozen water accumulated in the main silencer, restricting exhaust flow.
01-005-19-35482019-02-19. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Some vehicles may exhibit the check engine light on with DTC P0456 stored in the PCM memory. P0456: EVAP system leak detected (very small leak). The concern is most likely the result of the customer not getting the fuel cap completely closed after fueling the vehicle. This causes a small fuel vapor leak and turns DTC P0456 on.
01-004-19-35582019-02-19. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. On some vehicles, a sulfur smell or 'rotten egg' odor may be noticed coming from the exhaust system. The odor is usually noticed after a cold start, fast idle, extended periods of idling and full throttle acceleration. Sulfur smell is not an indication of an engine concern and will not cause reduced driveability or durability of the engine or any of its emission components. The sulfur smell or 'rotten egg' odor is caused by high amounts of sulfur in the gasoline being used in the vehicle. Sulfur is normally eliminated during the refining process, but the EPA regulation of sulfur in gasoline differs from state to state. Vehicles using fuel containing high amounts of sulfur will most likely emit sulfur smell from the exhaust system. When high sulfur fuel is burned, there is a chemical reaction in the catalytic converter causing the sulfur tooxidize. As the vehicle is driven, the oxidizing reaction odor in the converter will decrease with mileage and age.
01-003-19-35572019-02-19. Service bulletin. ENGINE. Some vehicles may experience the CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON with DTC P2610 and P2507 stored inmemory after engine start and room fuse 15A (A) removed. P2610:00: Instrument cluster internal engine off timer performance problem P2507:00: PCM battery voltage low input As a past malfunction, the customer will not notice it (no warning light illuminated), but the DTC may be found during a vehicle service. P2507 in this situation is only applicable on 2016 and later models. This is caused by the engine being started 3 or more times after a short duration of engine off (less than 15 seconds) with the room fused removed. NOTE: The odometer will display "F0-002" during transport mode (room fuse 15A removed). Transport mode is canceled when room fuse 15A is installed or the vehicle odometer is more than 12.4mi (20km). Vehicles in dealer inventory with this concern should be repaired using the following repair procedure.
