## United States (NHTSA), as of 2026-10-19

- [19V781000](/recalls/nhtsa/19V781000.md), 2019-10-31: AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:PASSENGER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULE. Mazda North American Operations \(Mazda\) is recalling certain 2003\-2008 Mazda6, 2004\-2005 MPV, 2004 RX\-8, and 2006\-2007 Mazdaspeed6 vehicles. These vehicles had their passenger frontal air bag inflators previously replaced under a prior recall using inflators of the same design. The inflators may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long\-term exposure to high absolute humidity, temperature and temperature cycling. Built 2002\-08\-05 to 2008\-05\-05. **NHTSA advises: do not drive until the repair is done.**
- [18V402000](/recalls/nhtsa/18V402000.md), 2018-06-15: AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:PASSENGER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULE. Mazda North America Operations \(Mazda\) is recalling certain 2003\-2008 Mazda6, 2006\-2007 Mazdaspeed6 and 2004 MPV vehicles nationwide. Mazda is also recalling 2005\-2006 MPV vehicles in Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands \(Saipan\), and the U.S. Virgin Islands. On July 9, 2019 this recall was expanded to include certain 2004\-2011 RX\-8 vehicles that were previously recalled under 16V\-354 but have not yet been repaired. These vehicles are equipped with certain air bag inflators assembled as part of the passenger frontal air bag modules, and used as original equipment or replacement equipment. In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the passenger frontal air bag, these passenger air bag inflators may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long\-term exposure to absolute humidity and temperature cycling. Built 2002\-05\-29 to 2008\-05\-05. **NHTSA advises: do not drive until the repair is done.**
- [17V474000](/recalls/nhtsa/17V474000.md), 2017-07-26: AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:DRIVER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULE. Mazda North American Operations \(Mazda\) is recalling certain model year 2003\-2008 Mazda6, 2004\-2008 RX\-8, and 2006\-2007 Mazdaspeed6 vehicles. The affected vehicles are equipped with a dual\-stage driver frontal air bag that may be susceptible to moisture intrusion and other factors, including manufacturing variability that, over time, could cause the inflator to rupture. Built 2002\-05\-29 to 2008\-05\-05. **NHTSA advises: do not drive until the repair is done.**
- [04V582000](/recalls/nhtsa/04V582000.md), 2004-12-10: SEAT BELTS:REAR/OTHER. ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES, THE RIGHT AND/OR LEFT REAR SEAT BELTS MAY NOT LOCK PROPERLY DUE TO MISSING RETAINING PINS ON THE HOUSING. Built 2004\-01\-15 to 2004\-03\-03.

## Canada (Transport Canada), as of 2026-10-19

- [2018578](/recalls/tc/2018578.md), 2018-10-23: Airbag. On certain vehicles, the passenger frontal airbag inflator could produce excessive internal pressure during airbag deployment. Increased pressure may cause the inflator to rupture, which could allow fragments to be propelled toward vehicle occupants, increasing the risk of injury. This could also damage the airbag module, which could prevent proper deployment. Failure of the passenger airbag to fully deploy during a crash \(where deployment is warranted\) could increase the risk of injury to the seat occupant. Correction: Dealers will replace the passenger frontal airbag inflator. Note: This recall supersedes recalls 2013\-112 \(Mazda Recall 6913D\), 2014\-245 \(Mazda Recall 7714F\), 2015\-624 \(Mazda Recall 9015L\), 2016\-259 \(Mazda Recall 9416E\) and 2017\-011 \(Mazda Recall 0617A\).
- [2018036](/recalls/tc/2018036.md), 2018-01-19: Airbag. On certain vehicles, long\-term exposure to high absolute humidity and temperature, combined with high temperature cycling, could eventually degrade the propellant contained in the driver frontal airbag. This could cause the airbag to deploy with more force than normal. As a result, if the vehicle were involved in a collision that warrants airbag deployment, fragments could be propelled toward vehicle occupants, and the airbag assembly could be damaged, preventing proper function. These issues could increase the risk of injury. Correction: Dealers will replace the driver frontal airbag inflator. Note: Canadian climate results in the propellant degrading slowly. The recall is being conducted as a precaution to address future risk, and is expected to replace airbag inflators before their function would be affected. Additional Note: This recall supersedes recall 2015\-247 \(Mazda Recall 8215F\). Vehicles completed under 2015\-247 do not need to be completed under recall 2018\-036.
- [2015624](/recalls/tc/2015624.md), 2015-12-31: Airbag. Note: This recall is superseded by recall 2018578 \(Mazda Recall 2618F\). Please see recall \<a href="http://wwwapps.tc.gc.ca/Saf\-Sec\-Sur/7/VRDB\-BDRV/search\-recherche/detail.aspx?lang=eng\&\&rn=2018578"\>2018578\</a\> for more information. Failure of the airbag to fully deploy during a crash \(where deployment is warranted\) could increase the risk of personal injury to the seat occupant. Correction: Dealers will replace the passenger airbag inflator.
- [2015247](/recalls/tc/2015247.md), 2015-06-04: Airbag. On certain vehicles, the driver frontal airbag inflator could produce excessive internal pressure during airbag deployment. Increased pressure may cause the inflator to rupture, which could allow fragments to be propelled toward vehicle occupants, increasing the risk of injury. This could also damage the airbag module, which could prevent proper deployment. Failure of the airbag to fully deploy during a crash \(where deployment is warranted\) could increase the risk of personal injury to the seat occupant. Correction: Dealers will replace the airbag module. Note: This recall is superseded by recall 2018\-036. Please see recall 2018\-036 for more information. \<a href="http://wwwapps.tc.gc.ca/Saf\-Sec\-Sur/7/VRDB\-BDRV/search\-recherche/detail.aspx?lang=eng\&\&rn=2018036"\>Click here for more information\</a\>.
- [2014570](/recalls/tc/2014570.md), 2014-12-17: Airbag. Mazda Canada is conducting a voluntary Safety Improvement Campaign concerning the driver's airbag inflator on certain vehicles equipped with Takata airbags. Mazda will replace the driver's inflator on affected vehicles. This action is not being conducted under the requirements of the Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Note: This Safety Improvement Campaign is superseded by recall 2015\-247 \(Mazda Recall 8215F\). Please see \<a href="http://wwwapps.tc.gc.ca/Saf\-Sec\-Sur/7/VRDB\-BDRV/search\-recherche/detail.aspx?lang=eng\&\&rn=2015247"\>recall 2015247\</a\> for more information.
- [2014245](/recalls/tc/2014245.md), 2014-06-23: Airbag. Note: For Mazda6 models, this recall is superseded by recall 2018578 \(Mazda Recall 2618F\). Please see recall \<a href="http://wwwapps.tc.gc.ca/Saf\-Sec\-Sur/7/VRDB\-BDRV/search\-recherche/detail.aspx?lang=eng\&\&rn=2018578"\>2018578\</a\> for more information. For RX\-8 models, this recall is superseded by recall 2019496 \(Mazda Recall 2618F\). Please see \<a href="http://wwwapps.tc.gc.ca/Saf\-Sec\-Sur/7/VRDB\-BDRV/search\-recherche/detail.aspx?lang=eng\&\&rn=2019496"\>recall 2019496\</a\> for more information. On certain vehicles, the passenger \(frontal\) airbag inflator could produce excessive internal pressure during airbag deployment. Increased pressure may cause the inflator to rupture, which could allow fragments to be propelled toward vehicle occupants, increasing the risk of injury. This could also damage the airbag module, which could prevent proper deployment. Failure of the passenger airbag to fully deploy during a crash \(where deployment is warranted\) could increase the risk of personal injury to the seat occupant. Correction: Dealers will replace the passenger airbag inflator. Note: This recall is an expansion of recall 2013112.
- [2013112](/recalls/tc/2013112.md), 2013-04-11: Airbag. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the passenger airbag inflator.
- [2004437](/recalls/tc/2004437.md), 2004-12-13: Seats And Restraints. On certain vehicles, the locking mechanism of the rear seat belt retractor may have been incorrectly assembled. As a result, the rear seat belts may not lock if the vehicle is involved in a crash. Correction: Dealers will replace the rear seat belt retractor assemblies.
- [2003339](/recalls/tc/2003339.md), 2003-12-17: Fuel System. On certain vehicles, the fuel sender unit may have been improperly installed in the fuel tank. This will produce an inadequate seal, and if the vehicles continue to operate with this condition, a small amount of fuel may ooze out producing a fuel odor and/or Malfunction Indicator Lamp \(MIL\) illumination. Correction: Dealer will affect repairs.
- [2003157](/recalls/tc/2003157.md), 2003-06-18: Brakes. On certain vehicles, the float in the fluid level sensor inside the brake reservoir could be forced off of the guide rail during the filling of the master cylinder. Should this occur, it is possible that the float will not return to the guide rail and should that occur, the brake fluid level warning indicator may not function. Correction: Dealers will affect repairs.
