Service bulletins for the 2025 Mazda CX-5
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| SA-019-26 | 2026-04-03. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE:BODY; UNKNOWN OR OTHER. This SA supersedes the previously issued SA(s) listed below. The changes are noted in Red. SA-045/22 12/06/22 and 07/12/22 NOTE: All vehicles with protective films applied to the piano black door garnishes of the following models are applicable to this Service Alert. DESCRIPTION The purpose of this Service Alert is to remind dealers to keep the protective films on the piano black door garnishes attached until just before delivering the vehicle to the customer. The protective films are attached on new vehicles when shipped from the factory in order to avoid being scratched during transportation and while in dealer stock. NOTE: Remove the protective films after cleaning the vehicle. • If any adhesive residue remains on the surface of the door garnish, attach the adhesive side of the protective film on the area again, and then peel it off to remove the residue. • Refer to the image below for the location of the protective films (4 sheets of films in each side). |
| SA-014-26 | 2026-04-02. Service bulletin. ENGINE. This Service Alert supersedes the previously issued SA(s) and TSB(s) listed below: The changes are noted in Red. SA-035/24 05/31/24 DESCRIPTION There is a concern that some water pumps are being replaced that are not faulty, due to signs of a very small coolant leak from the bleed hole. This Service Alert is to inform you about the water pump sealing mechanism and the criteria if replacement is necessary or not. A mechanical seal (A) is used for the water pump. This mechanical seal can seal coolant (B) by sliding a mating ring (C) against a seal ring (D). When the sliding surface temperature of the mechanical seal is more than 248 °F (120 °C) while driving, a small amount of steam (E) is leaked and bleeds through the bleeding hole (F). After drying, the steam leaves a green coolant deposit near the water pump bleed hole (F). This is a normal condition and does not require water pump replacement. The water pump should only be replaced if there is an accumulation of crystallized coolant near the bleed hole. When you encounter a water pump with coolant seepage marks, decide to replace it or not based on the following criteria using sample photos. NOTE: During the initial period of use*, the sliding surfaces of the seals may not yet be fully settled, which can temporarily increase the amount of leakage. Continued use will allow the surfaces to settle, reducing the leakage. Replacing parts that are already settled with new ones will increase the leakage again until the new parts become conditioned. Therefore, replacement should be avoided in this initial period of use. *As a guideline, this applies to vehicles with less than 1,860 miles (3000 km) of mileage. |
| 01-001-26b | 2026-04-02. Service bulletin. ENGINE; UNKNOWN OR OTHER. Some customers may experience a check engine light ON with DTC P0126:00 (Thermostat stuck open) and one or more of the following symptoms: Engine takes longer to warm up. Engine temperature gauge fluctuates. Low coolant temperature indicator (blue) light stays on longer or turns on while driving. Poor heater performance, especially at idle. Vehicles with SKYACTIV-G 2.5T are not applicable to this service information. DTC P0126:00 is not required to be present to perform this repair. If the vehicle has not previously had the repair specified in this TSB and is exhibiting any of the listed symptoms, proceed with the repair procedure outlined in this bulletin. If DTC P2B61:00 (Coolant Control Valve Circuit Range/Performance) is present along with DTC P0126:00, this TSB does not apply. Diagnose the symptom and/or stored DTCs according to the procedures in MGSS. If only DTC P0126:00 is present and this TSB has already been completed previously, this bulletin does not apply, diagnose the symptom and/or stored DTCs according to the procedures in MGSS. This concern may be caused if the coolant control valve fail-safe thermostat opens at a temperature lower than the normal temperature due to a deformation of the thermostat diaphragm. To eliminate the concern, the water flow control valve specification has been modified. Affected vehicles will require PCM reprogramming with the Mazda Modular Diagnostic System (M-MDS), using either a) Mazda Diagnostic and Repair Software (MDARS) or b) Mazda Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) 140.04 or later software. |
| SA-011-26 | 2026-03-05. Service bulletin. ENGINE; POWER TRAIN. Some vehicles may display some (or all) of the following symptoms: • Check engine light on with DTC P061B • Light increase in engine rpms during acceleration • Transmission will not shift past 4th gear • Various U codes (U0401 ABS, U0401, U0415 FSC, U0301, U0316 SBS/MRCC, U0442 TCM) may be set |
| SSPD8 Repair c | 2026-03-04. Warranty extension. ENGINE. SSPD8 - Check Engine Light ON with DTC P0126:00 - WARRANTY EXTENSION For certain 2018-2025MY CX-5, 2019-2023MY Mazda3, 2019-2022MY CX-3, 2018-2021MY Mazda6, 2020-2023MY CX-30 that are equipped with the suspected coolant control valve, the warranty coverage for specific repair of the fail-safe thermostat is extended to: 15 years (180 months) or 150,000 miles (240,000 km) whichever comes first, from the original warranty start date. CONDITION OF CONCERN: On certain subject vehicles, the check engine light is illuminated with DTC P0126:00 (Thermostat stuck open) stored in memory and one or more of the following symptoms may occur: - Engine takes longer to warm up. - Engine temperature gauge fluctuates. - Low coolant temperature indicator (blue) light stays on longer or turns on while driving. - Poor heater performance, especially at idle. Mazda Motor Corporation has made a significant repair change to TSB 01-003/25 which also impacts Warranty Extension Special Service Program (SSPD8). Repair Procedure Update: Effective December 8th all repairs applicable to TSB 01-003/25 or SSPD8 must follow the new repair procedure. The repair now replaces the thermostat with a dummy plug for the coolant control valve (CCV) along with a required software update for the PCM. Prior Repairs: Any repairs previously completed with the replacement of the thermostat or coolant control valve assembly does not require a re-repair unless there is a verified failure following the diagnosis in the TSB. It is expected that there will be no further repairs made for this concern once the plug and software update has been completed. Therefore, a return visit for symptoms related to the TSB or SSP must contact the Technical Hotline for assistance. VITALLY IMPORTANT!: There must be a “Software Update” record for the PCM when using MDARS or IDS. • MDARS - If there is no Software Update entry in MDARS or the Collect Diagnostic Information (ODR Update) is not completed (or both), the vehicle will not be considered repaired and the warranty claim will be rejected. • IDS – Vehicles programed with IDS must Collect Diagnostic Data, and that data must be attached to the warranty claim. If the data is not attached to the claim, the vehicle will not be considered repaired and the warranty claim will be rejected, denied or debited. Failure to complete the above will require the vehicle to return to the dealership and be re-repaired at the dealer’s expense with great inconvenience to the Mazda customer. Failure to perform the software update could also potentially damage the engine which would not be covered by warranty and would expose your dealership to the cost of repairs. |
| PF-26-01 | 2026-03-04. Other. ENGINE. The coolant control valve updated part is now available and supersedes PYFD-15-16ZA. As a result, PYFD-15-16ZA is no longer available. PW5S-15-16Z is supplied with a dummy plug pre-installed. Critical Installation Requirement: When replacing PW5S-15-16Z, the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) must also be updated to the latest software version. Failure to perform the PCM update may result in drivability concerns or diagnostic trouble codes. |

| SA-005-26 | 2026-02-03. Service bulletin. UNKNOWN OR OTHER. There are currently 2 methods for cutting a new auxiliary key blank. A. Auxiliary Key Trace Cut Method • B. Auxiliary Key Code Cut Method 2019 and newer models require a 10-digit key code to accurately cut keys • 5-digit codes CANNOT be provided for 2019 and newer vehicles (the traditional 5-digit code from the key tag or driver's door lock cylinder is not sufficient and will not be issued for key cutting on these models). • Only Mazda-approved key cutting machines can process these 10-digit codes. • Many older key machines do not support 10-digit codes and cannot be updated to do so. In these cases, dealers will need to purchase one of the newer Mazda-approved key cutting machines capable of handling this requirement. • For a list of current Mazda-approved machines and purchasing options, refer to the Mazda Dealer Equipment Program or view the current Mazda approved key machines below. |
| SA-002-26 | 2026-02-03. Service bulletin. WHEELS. Some customers may complain that the tire sidewalls are distorted or "damaged". Sidewall waviness/indentations/undulations are common on radial tires and are more noticeable on tires with taller sidewalls. The higher the tire pressure, the more noticeable the effect will be. Be sure to set the tire pressures at the recommended tire pressure on the vehicle tire label. Sidewall indentations are a cosmetic condition that does not affect the performance of the tires. |

| 07-004-25a | 2026-01-03. Service bulletin. UNKNOWN OR OTHER. A musty/mildew type odor may come from the vents when the air conditioning (A/C) system is operating. It is most noticeable when the A/C is first turned ON. This odor is the result of mold growth in the A/C evaporator/cooling unit which is caused by condensation, dust, and pollen within the cooling unit. This condition is usually worse during high humidity conditions. “Mazda Air Cooling Coil Coating” is available to encapsulate the mold to reduce odors. If the product is properly applied, it can effectively reduce the musty/mildew odor for up to three years. NOTE: See parts information for Mazda Air Cooling Coil Coating and Kit part numbers. |
