Service bulletins for the 2016 Mazda CX-3
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

| CSP05a | 2020-12-04. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; EQUIPMENT. MULTI-MODEL - MAZDA MOBILE START CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM. As shared previously, due to planned industry-wide changes in mobile network infrastructure and wireless technology, the Mazda Mobile Start (MMS) accessory was no longer offered beginning with 20MYvehicles. These technology changes are scheduled to occur in late 2021 as our service provider transitions away from a 3G network which currently supports the MMS application and its vehicle operations for all active legacy accounts. As a result, the MMS application and its vehicle operations will no longer work after September 30. 2021 for these legacy accounts and their respective vehicle owners. In an effort to provide advance notice and be transparent, and also to lessen the inconvenience of this situation - On 11/12/2020, all active MMS account holders will be informed of this news and will be presented with their choice of one of following goodwill offers: A new, replacement remote-engine start system (key fob transmitter type), Installation of Apple CarPlay™ / Android Auto™, A $1000 voucher towards the purchase or lease of a new Mazda vehicle |

| MT-005-20 | 2020-12-03. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Some customers may complain about high engine oil consumption. Before attempting any repairs, verify the complaint by using the guideline below to determine if an engine repair is necessary: Engine Oil Consumption Inspection Guideline 1. Record the vehicle mileage. 2. Engine at normal operating temperature, top off engine oil level to the full mark on the dipstick. 3. Ask the customer to return to the dealer after 1200 miles to recheck the engine oil level. 4. After 1200 miles, engine at normal operating temperature, check the engine oil level on the dipstick. 5. Is the engine oil level above the low mark on the dipstick? • Yes - No repair is necessary. • No - Proceed to MGSS online or Workshop Manual (section 01-03 NO. 16 HIGH OIL CONSUMPTION/LEAKAGE). |
| MT-004-20 | 2020-12-03. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE. Some customers may complain about a tapping or knocking noise coming from the rear seat after fuel fill. The concern will likely occur if the fuel tank is overfilled (more fuel is added after the fuel pump nozzle shuts off automatically) or filled up normally in high ambient temperatures and the fuel expands. |
| 09-036-20-3756 | 2020-12-03. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY. Some vehicles may exhibit a Connectivity Master Unit (CMU), a BLUETOOTH® hands-free unit or text messaging related concerns. | 09-031-20-3736 | 2020-10-03. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; VISIBILITY; BACK OVER PREVENTION: SENSING SYSTEM: CAMERA. Some vehicles may exhibit a distorted image or no image from the rear mount camera when shifted into reverse. Due to friction, the coating of camera socket terminals may wear out, creating high electrical resistance. NOTE: The icons and the messages are displayed normally. |
| 09-030-20-3740 | 2020-10-03. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. All Mazda Connect vehicles in new car inventory must be updated to the software version listed below in this TSB as part of the New Car Ready Step 3 process. Make sure the new vehicle specialist receives a copy of this bulletin. Some vehicles may experience the symptoms mentioned below, which can be fixed with the latest software update (Version 70.00.367 or later). NOTE: For 2016 CX-9 with version earlier than 59.00.441, the tachometer function will be removed from the Active Driving Display as part of Mazda’s continuing efforts to improve safety and reduce driver distraction. Please explain this to the customer before updating the software. If the customer agrees, turn off the tachometer display on the AD-Display tab in MAZDA CONNECT Settings before performing the update. |

| MT-001-20 | 2020-08-04. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. If you encounter any type of electrical concern (e.g, dead battery, engine no start, DTC(s) stored...), interview the customer before proceeding with normal Workshop Manual diagnosis. Aftermarket devices may be the cause of the electrical concern. Ask the customer if any aftermarket devices have been installed. Below are a couple of examples of unusual electrical concerns caused by aftermarket devices. |
| 09-006-20-3673a | 2020-08-04. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT. When encountering a vehicle with paint damage, refer to the "Mazda Paint Warranty Guide" to determine cause, prevention, remedy, and warranty coverage (if applicable). |
| 05-003-20-3725 | 2020-08-04. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; POWER TRAIN; EQUIPMENT; ENGINE. Some vehicles may experience the check engine light and automatic transaxle warning light ON with one or more of these DTCs stored in the TCM memory (P0842, P0847, P0872, P0877, P0780, P1738). This is caused by the oil pressure switch A and/or B at the control valve body temporarily or permanently getting stuck due to contamination entering the passage. To correct the problem, some mass production changes have been implemented to reduce contamination and improve the DTC diagnostic logic. |
| SA-053-20 | 2020-07-03. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. When replacing manual or automatic transmission, make sure to remove the plug from the old transmission (as shown below) and then re-install it to the new transmission with a new washer. The new transmissions (including remanufactured A/T) have a shipping plug, as shown in the figures (M/T: black, rubber made; A/T: pink and black, with breather). This plug is for shipping use only and needs to be removed in order to re-install the original plug from the old transmission. |
| SA-026-20a | 2020-07-03. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL. Use the symptom troubleshooting tables below to diagnose MAZDA CONNECT concerns. |
| 09-015-20-3698b | 2020-07-02. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY. Some customers may experience the MAZDA CONNECT rebooting or the screen turning black during cold temperatures. The concern occurs when the interior of the vehicle is cold and disappears when the interior warms up. This is caused by some SD cards for the MAZDA CONNECT navigation system being manufactured with improper hardware, resulting in a data reading error during cold temperatures. To correct the concern, the SD card hardware has been changed. |
| 08-001-20-3696a | 2020-07-02. Service bulletin. AIR BAGS; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some customers may experience the airbag warning light ON with DTC B00A0:09 stored in the SAS control module memory when the battery voltage is low. • DTC B00A0:09 (Occupant classification sensor internal signal output unstable). This concern is caused by the low voltage detection time of the occupant classification sensor (OCS) being too short during cranking, which causes detection of the DTC unnecessarily. The concern occurs more often in colder weather when greater electric current is consumed to start the vehicle. To eliminate this concern, the OCS has been modified to avoid unnecessary DTC detection. NOTE: • Even if the voltage is recovered after the engine is started, the airbag warning light stays ON during the drive cycle. • When the battery voltage becomes stable after the engine is started, the airbag system will operate normally. |
| 09-015-20-3698 | 2020-05-04. Service bulletin. EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Some customers may experience the MAZDA CONNECT rebooting or the screen turning black during cold temperatures.
