In the affected vehicles, grease applied to the contact points inside the ignition switch may become conductive and overheat. Built 1992\-09\-01 to 1997\-06\-26.

- [2015489](/recalls/tc/2015489.md), 2015-10-19: Electrical. On certain vehicles, a defect in the ignition switch could cause an electrical short to develop over time. This could result in smoke and/or fire, increasing the risk of injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will replace the ignition switch.
- [2000176](/recalls/tc/2000176.md), 2000-08-28: Other. Certain vehicles do not comply with Regulation 6 \- Statement of Compliance.  Vehicles have an incorrect National Safety Mark \(NSM\).  Correction:  Since this non\-compliance does not present a risk to vehicle safety, no further action will be taken.
- [2000125](/recalls/tc/2000125.md), 2000-06-14: Engine. On certain vehicles, an external spring in the timing belt auto tensioner may break.  The broken spring may get caught in the timing belt, resulting in possible engine stalling.  Correction:  Dealers will inspect the tensioner on affected vehicles and replace if necessary.
- [1998202](/recalls/tc/1998202.md), 1998-10-21: Electrical. On certain vehicles operated in a hot, humid environment with the window open and air conditioner running, it is possible for condensation to enter the audio unit and cause a short circuit. If the short circuit occurs at a specific set of terminals, the speaker can overheat and possibly catch on fire. correction: Aluminum tape will be affixed over the audio unit to prevent water from entering.
- [1997223](/recalls/tc/1997223.md), 1997-12-17: Engine. NOTE: VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH 2.0 LITRE ENGINE. THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE \(PCM\) MAY TRIGGER A SHIFT IN AIR\-FUEL RATIO TO AN OVER\-LEAN CONDITION RESULTING IN AN ENGINE STALL. THIS COULD LEAD TO LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL AND A POSSIBLE VEHICLE CRASH. CORRECTION: PCM WILL BE REPROGRAMMED WITH THE CORRECT ENGINE CONTROL LOGIC.
