MACK TRUCKS IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2002 THROUGH 2004 CL, CV, LE, MR, RB, RD, AND MODEL YEAR 2003 THROUGH 2004 DM HEAVY TRUCKS MANUFACTURED FROM FEBRUARY 1, 2002 THROUGH SEPTEMBER 30, 2003, EQUIPPED WITH AXLE BEAMS MANUFACTURED BY BHARAT FORGE.  THE AXLE BEAM MAY HAVE TRANSVERSE SHEAR LINES ON THE BOTTOM OF THE AXLE FROM THE TRIMMING PROCESS. Built 2002\-02\-01 to 2003\-09\-30.
- [04V118000](/recalls/nhtsa/04V118000.md), 2004-03-04: SERVICE BRAKES, AIR:DISC:CHAMBER. CERTAIN TRUCKS FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 121, "AIR BRAKE SYSTEMS."   THE FRONT BRAKE CHAMBER ON SOME 18,000 LB. AND 20,000 LB FRONT AXLE ASSEMBLIES IS TOO SMALL TO MEET STOPPING DISTANCE REQUIREMENTS. Built 2003\-05\-27 to 2004\-02\-04.

- [2009199](/recalls/tc/2009199.md), 2009-07-07: Suspension. On certain vehicles, the front axle beam may not have been manufactured correctly.  Transverse shear lines on the bottom of the axle could allow cracks to form which, over time, may cause the axle beam to fail.  This could result in a vehicle crash causing property damage, personal injury or death.  Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if required, replace the axle beam.
- [2004218](/recalls/tc/2004218.md), 2004-07-07: Brakes. On certain vehicles equipped with 18,000 lb and 20,000 lb front axle assemblies, the front brake chamber is too small to meet the stopping distance requirements of CMVSS 121.  Correction:  Dealer will replace the type\-20 brake chamber with a larger type\-24 brake chamber.
