Ford Motor Company, Inc. \(Ford\) is recalling certain 2016\-2018 Lincoln MKX and 2019\-2020 Nautilus vehicles equipped with 16\-way electric tilt seats. The seat cushion frame edge may contact the wire harness when the seat occupant uses the tilt function of the seat, potentially damaging one or more wires within the harness, which can result in either inadvertent deployment of the air bag or nondeployment of the air bag in the event of a crash. - [19V809000](/recalls/nhtsa/19V809000.md), 2019-11-12: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:12V/24V/48V BATTERY:CABLES. The battery positive cable harness may contact the transmission shifter cable bracket resulting in a short circuit. Ford Motor Company \(Ford\) is recalling certain 2016\-2017 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX vehicles and 2017 Lincoln Continental vehicles. In the event of a crash, the driver's frontal air bag may not fully inflate or the air bag cushion may detach from the air bag module. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard \(FMVSS\) number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection." Issue: On certain vehicles, the rear brake hoses could fail and cause a progressive brake fluid leak. If this happens, there could be reduced braking. Note: This problem could cause a change in brake pedal feel and travel. Safety Risk: Reduced braking can cause extended stopping distances and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and replace or reroute the rear brake hoses, as necessary. - [2020373](/recalls/tc/2020373.md), 2020-08-13: Brakes. Issue: On certain vehicles, the front brake hoses could fail, causing a progressive brake fluid leak. If this happens, the driver may experience a change in brake pedal feel and travel. This can cause reduced brake performance. Note: A brake fluid leak would cause the brake warning light to turn on. Safety Risk: Reduced brake performance could cause extended stopping distances and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Ford will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the front brake hoses. - [2020335](/recalls/tc/2020335.md), 2020-07-20: Seats And Restraints. Issue: On certain vehicles, the wiring for the front seats could be damaged when a person uses the tilt function. As a result, certain system in the vehicle may not work properly. Depending on which wires are damaged, the occupant classification system may not work properly. This can cause the passenger airbag to not work properly in a crash. The damage could also cause the driver or passenger front airbag to deploy suddenly without a crash. Note: This recall only affects vehicles equipped with 16\-way power front seats. Safety Risk: An airbag that does not deploy properly in a crash could increase the risk of injuries. A sudden airbag deployment when there is no crash could also create a risk of injury. Corrective Actions: Ford will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to install protective tape on the exposed edge of the cushion frames. The dealer will also inspect the wire harness and repair or replace it, as needed. - [2019569](/recalls/tc/2019569.md), 2019-11-12: Electrical. Issue: On certain vehicles built with a 3.7\-L engine, the positive battery cable may rub against the transmission shifter cable bracket. This could cause a short circuit to occur. Safety Risk: An electrical short circuit could create a fire risk. Corrective Actions: Ford will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a Ford or Lincoln dealer to install a wire channel shield and protective sleeve on the battery cable. - [2017102](/recalls/tc/2017102.md), 2017-03-01: Airbag. Certain vehicles may fail to comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard \(CMVSS\) 208 \- Occupant Protection in Frontal Impacts. Certain driver frontal airbag modules may have been assembled incorrectly. In the event of a crash warranting deployment of the driver's frontal airbag, the airbag may not completely fill, or the airbag cushion may detach from the airbag module, which would not protect the driver as expected, and could increase the risk of injury.
