Kia Motors America, Inc. is conducting a Voluntary Service Campaign on 2018MY Sunset Yellow (color code: S7Y) Stinger (CK) vehicles, produced from December 4, 2017 through January 17, 2018. An error occurred during the factory paint process of Sunset Yellow Stinger vehicles affecting paint adherence that may result in some paint chipping on certain affected areas. The affected areas include the exterior metal panels such as the hood, doors, windshield pillars, and tail gate (partial). Those affected areas will be repainted.

This bulletin provides the procedure to replace the Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) warmer connector on some 2018MY Stinger (CK) vehicles, equipped with the Theta 2.0L Turbo engine and produced from September 9, 2017 through January 4, 2018, which may exhibit a coolant fluid leakage between the ATF connector and engine side heater pipe.

This bulletin provides information relating to all Kia vehicles equipped with Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) engines. In these engines highly pressurized gasoline is injected via a common fuel rail and injectors that deliver fuel directly into the combustion chamber of each cylinder. In comparison, in a conventional Multi-Point Fuel Injection (MPI) engine, the gasoline is injected into the intake port of each cylinder at a relatively low pressure. Due to high fuel pressure in a GDI system, servicing the GDI system requires special attention and handling procedures. This bulletin provides special service information and specifications for the GDI fuel system components.

PITSTOP - CORRECT PROCEDURE FOR RAISING WINDSHIELD WIPERS - When servicing the windshield wipers on the listed vehicles below during PDI, make sure to use the procedure outlined below to raise the wiper arms to the fully vertical position in order to avoid damaging the paint on the rear edge of the hood. It is important to note that the wipers on these vehicles are recessed under the hood to provide better appearance and reduced wind noise characteristics. This procedure applies to both key start and SMK type ignition systems.

This bulletin provides the procedure to improve the logic of the Transmission Control Unit (TCU) on some 2018MY Stinger (CK) 2.0T & 3.3T vehicles, equipped with Shift-by-Cable (SBC) and produced from September 29, 2017 through February 7, 2018. These vehicles may experience improper 1st gear engagement when moving the shifter in a fast or abrupt manner from "Park" to "Sport Mode". To correct this condition, apply the improved logic to the TCU using the KDS ECU Upgrade function as described in this bulletin.
