Corrosion can occur due to a combination of environmental conditions and lack of proper underbody maintenance, especially on vehicles in states where heavy amounts of road salt are used if the materials used for ice/snow removal are not regularly flushed from the underbody of the vehicle.

CUSTOMER SATISFACTION CAMPAIGN: OWNER NOTIFICATION - This document is the owner notification advising that Kia previously sent a letter for a steering wheel lock device, and their vehicle is equipped with a factory burglar alarm and is therefore eligible to receive the software upgrade. Kia has developed a software upgrade that can be installed on the vehicle to restrict the operation of the vehicle's ignition system should a locked vehicle be the subject of a break-in and theft attempt without the key. This software upgrade will be available to the customer free of charge for eighteen (18) months from the date of this letter. When the software upgrade is complete, Kia will also provide the customer with window stickers that can be applied to your vehicle to discourage a break-in.

An internal oil leakage will cause a decrease in oil pressure without the instal lation of the dowel pin location described in this bulletin. Confirm that the dowel pin was installed for an engine exhibiting a low oil pressure concern after a short block replacement.
