## Canada (Transport Canada), as of 2026-10-19

- [2023293](/recalls/tc/2023293.md), 2023-05-18: Lights And Instruments. Issue: On certain trucks, the backup lamps could be blocked and may not be visible. As a result, the trucks don't meet the requirements of the Canadian regulations. Note: This recall only affects trucks equipped with a pintle hook lowering bracket and feature code 01WPN, 01 WPS, or 01VAL. Safety Risk: Backup lamps that aren't visible could cause a person not to recognize that the vehicle is backing and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Navistar will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to a dealership to install new tail stop/turn signal lamps with integrated backup lamps.
- [2007016](/recalls/tc/2007016.md), 2007-01-22: Electrical. On certain trucks, the positive battery cables, that supply power from the batteries to the starter, may rub against an electrical ground cable between the engine and the starter, and electrical ground cable between the frame rail and the starter, or the frame rail itself. This rubbing may cause an electrical short and/or fire, which can result in property damage, personal injury, or death. Correction: Dealers will re\-route the battery cables using new bracketry.
- [2005190](/recalls/tc/2005190.md), 2005-06-27: Electrical. On certain vehicles, the positive battery cable between the batteries and the starter may rub against an electrical ground cable between the starter and frame rail. This chafing may cause an electrical short and/or fire, which could result in property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will inspect to determine appropriate level of remedy required.
- [2005143](/recalls/tc/2005143.md), 2005-05-11: Suspension. On certain vehicles, the rear suspension transverse beam castings were not made to specifications. If a casting were to break when the vehicle is in motion, parts could become projectiles with potential to cause property damage, personal injury or death. Also, the transverse beam may drop down low enough to contact the road surface causing sparks that could ignite a fire. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the transverse beams.
- [2004308](/recalls/tc/2004308.md), 2004-08-25: Suspension. On certain vehicles, the front, non\-drive axle, cotter keys and spindle nut retainers were not installed. The cotter keys and spindle nut retainers aid in wheel retention. If not installed, a front wheel could separate from the vehicle, which may result in property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if missing, install new retainers and cotter keys.
- [2004307](/recalls/tc/2004307.md), 2004-08-25: Brakes. On certain vehicles, only 8 bolts were installed in the brake group during axle build up. The brake group, an assembly that includes the brake shoes, springs, air chambers, slack adjusters, and spider, is normally attached to an axle housing with 9 bolts. A failure of the brake group connection to the axle may result in a sudden loss of braking ability. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if missing, install the 9th bolt and re\-torque the entire assembly.
- [2004209](/recalls/tc/2004209.md), 2004-06-24: Electrical. On certain vehicles, the engine electrical harness can chafe against sharp edges on the engine. There are a number of different failures that could occur as many functions of the vehicle are processed through this harness. The modes of failure that could occur without warning, that may affect highway safety are: sudden acceleration, activation of engine compression brake, alternator overload and possible fire, engine speed dropping to idle, and loss of engine Electronic Control Module \(ECM\) power resulting in engine shutdown. Correction: Dealers will inspect, repair and relocate the engine harness.
- [2004074](/recalls/tc/2004074.md), 2004-02-26: Electrical. On certain vehicles, water intrusion into the sleeper berth's bunk control panel area may pool in the tops of the dome light, TV/VCR, and/or refrigerator power switches. The LED circuit boards in these switches may begin to heat up and possibly produce a flame or fire, without warning, that could cause property damage, personal injury, or death. Correction: Dealer will install a water shield over the back of the entire bunk control panel.
