- [15V169000](/recalls/nhtsa/15V169000.md), 2015-03-24: POWER TRAIN:DRIVELINE:DRIVESHAFT. Navistar, Inc. \(Navistar\) is recalling certain model year 1999\-2002 International 4800 4x4 trucks manufactured June 30, 1999, through May 28, 2002, and equipped with Fabco TC\-200 transfer cases. The field remedy that these vehicles received as part of Navistar recall 05501 \(NHTSA recall number 03V\-415\), a double Cardan front driveshaft, may seize under certain conditions. ## Canada (Transport Canada), as of 2026-10-19

- [2014370](/recalls/tc/2014370.md), 2014-09-02: Powertrain. On certain 4800 4x4 vehicles, the front propeller shaft may have been replaced with one having a double cardan joint at each end as part of a previous recall. The centering ball and socket of the double cardan joint may sieze, which could cause the driveshaft to break apart, and under certain conditions, potentially causing axle lockup and increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: Dealers will install front driveshaft guards at both ends of the shaft, install lockout front wheel hubs, and replace any drive shaft found with loose or binding double cardan joints at either end.
- [2005006](/recalls/tc/2005006.md), 2005-01-11: Powertrain. On certain vehicles, an excessive front drive shaft angle may cause accelerated wear and failure of the drive shaft and related components. This failure can cause the front drive shaft to become separated from the vehicle without warning and get into the path of other vehicles on the highway, possibly resulting in property damage, personal injury, or death. Correction: Dealer will replace the drive shaft with a double\-Cardan type shaft. Note: This recall is supersedes recall 2003256.
- [2003256](/recalls/tc/2003256.md), 2003-10-23: Powertrain. Note: This recall is superseded by recall 2005006.
- [2002113](/recalls/tc/2002113.md), 2002-06-17: Brakes. On certain trucks the fitting that connects the double check valve to the rear axle air brake relay valve may break. If the fitting breaks the rear service brakes will cease to operate, resulting in an extended stopping distance, possibly resulting in a collision.
