## Canada (Transport Canada), as of 2026-10-19

- [2021026](/recalls/tc/2021026.md), 2021-02-05: Airbag. Issue: Long\-term exposure to high absolute humidity and temperature, combined with high temperature cycling, may eventually degrade the propellant contained in the passenger\-front airbag. This could cause the airbag to deploy with more force than normal. If the airbag inflator ruptures, fragments could be propelled toward vehicle occupants or cause damage to the airbag assembly, preventing its proper function. Note: For 2009 models listed, this recall only affects vehicles that were imported into Canada, and were originally sold or ever registered in certain areas of the United States that experience high or moderate levels of heat and humidity. Safety Risk: If the vehicle is involved in a crash requiring an airbag deployment, the airbag inflator could rupture and create a risk of injury. Corrective Action: General Motors will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the passenger\-front airbag. Note: The Canadian climate results in the propellant degrading slowly. This recall is being conducted as a precaution to address future risk. It is expected that all airbag inflators will be replaced before their function would be affected.
- [2020591](/recalls/tc/2020591.md), 2020-12-02: Airbag. Note: This recall is for vehicles that were originally sold or ever registered in certain areas of the United States that experience high or moderate levels of heat and humidity, and that were subsequently imported into Canada. Affected states: American Samoa and the U.S. Virgin Islands, Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Guam, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, the Northern Mariana Islands \(Saipan\), Virginia and West Virginia. Safety Risk: If the vehicle is involved in a crash requiring an airbag deployment, the airbag inflator could rupture and create a risk of injury. Corrective Actions: General Motors will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the passenger\-front airbag inflator. Note: This recall is being conducted as a precaution to address future risk. It is expected that all airbag inflators will be replaced before their function would be affected.
- [2016307](/recalls/tc/2016307.md), 2016-06-15: Airbag. This Safety Improvement Program was replaced by Transport Canada Recall No. 2020\-591. General Motors Canada is conducting a voluntary Safety Improvement Program involving passenger airbag inflators in vehicles that were originally sold or ever registered in certain areas of the United States that experience high or moderate levels of heat and humidity, and that were subsequently imported into Canada. Dealers will replace the passenger inflator on affected vehicles. Owners who believe their vehicles may have been originally purchased or registered in the states listed below should contact a General Motors dealer. This action is not being conducted under the requirements of the Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Affected states: American Samoa and the U.S. Virgin Islands, Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Guam, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, the Northern Mariana Islands \(Saipan\), Virginia and West Virginia.
- [2015235](/recalls/tc/2015235.md), 2015-05-28: Airbag. On certain 2500HD and 3500HD series pickup trucks, the passenger frontal airbag inflator could produce excessive internal pressure during airbag deployment. Increased pressure may cause the inflator to rupture, which could allow fragments to be propelled toward vehicle occupants, increasing the risk of injury. This could also damage the airbag module, which could prevent proper deployment. Failure of the passenger airbag to fully deploy during a crash \(where deployment is warranted\) could increase the risk of personal injury to the seat occupant. Correction: Dealers will replace airbag inflators.
- [2014510](/recalls/tc/2014510.md), 2014-11-07: Airbag. On certain vehicles, the Sensing and Diagnostic Module \(SDM\) may corrode due to a significant quantity of snow and/or water containing road salt or other contaminants entering the vehicle and saturating the acoustical padding beneath the floor carpet. If sufficient moisture collects and is retained in the padding, it may cause excessive corrosion under the module; compromising the module seal and allowing water intrusion and system malfunction. This may result in illumination of the Airbag Readiness light along with a "Service Airbag" message on the Driver Information Center and, in certain instances, may cause inadvertent deployment of the seatbelt pretensioner and/or airbags. Inadvertent airbag and/or pretensioner deployment could result in injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will remove the acoustical pad above the SDM, inspect, and if necessary, replace the SDM. Note: This is an expansion of recall 2009\-291
- [2014277](/recalls/tc/2014277.md), 2014-07-03: Electrical. On certain vehicles equipped with an optional dual batteries, the owner's manual does not specify a maximum amperage rating for the auxiliary battery to the trailer wiring harness. If the circuit is overloaded, a fusible link may fail and could damage adjacent components, potentially resulting in a fire and increasing the risk of injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will install an 40 amp inline fuse and provide an owner's manual supplement containing maximum amp rating information. Note: Owners are advised not to use equipment that exceeds a 40 amp draw on the auxiliary battery trailer wiring.
- [2011074](/recalls/tc/2011074.md), 2011-02-21: Heater And Defroster. On certain vehicles, the interface between the electrical terminals of the Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning \(HVAC\) blower relay resistor module and the wiring connector \(which powers the module\) may be incapable of conducting higher current levels for sustained periods of operation. In addition, moisture and other contaminants \(such as road de\-icing materials\) may enter the fresh air intake plenum and contact the internal circuit of the module or corrode the terminals. These conditions may cause the relay resistor module or wiring connector to overheat, causing various symptoms such as: the HVAC blower may not function on certain or all blower speed settings; a burning\-plastic smell or smoke may be present in the vehicle, or; the HVAC blower may run continually with the ignition in the OFF position. These warning signs could, in certain instances, be leading indicators of an impending vehicle fire, which could result in property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Owners will be provided with additional warranty coverage for the blower motor resistor module/wiring connector overheating condition. Under this "special warranty coverage", should this condition occur within 10 years or 240,000 km from first vehicle registration, dealers will install a replacement blower motor resistor and resistor module connector.
- [2010189](/recalls/tc/2010189.md), 2010-06-07: Accessories. On certain vehicles equipped with a Heated Washer Fluid System \(HWFS\), a short circuit on the printed circuit board for the washer fluid heater may overheat the control\-circuit ground wire. A repair was implemented in a recall in 2008, however, there have been new reports of thermal incidents on heated washer fluid system modules after this improvement was installed. This situation may cause some minor distortion, but also could lead to melting of the plastic around the heated washer fluid system, or cause a fire. Correction: Dealers will permanently disable and remove the heated washer fluid module. An updated page will be provided and inserted in the Owner Manual to document the removal of the feature.
- [2009291](/recalls/tc/2009291.md), 2009-10-14: Airbag. On certain vehicles located in Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland \& Labrador, the Sensing and Diagnostic Module \(SDM\) may corrode due to a significant quantity of snow and/or water containing road salt or other contaminants entering the vehicle and saturating the acoustical padding beneath the floor carpet. Inadvertent deployment of the driver and / or passenger front airbag in a non\-accident \(non\-impact\) situation may cause damage to the surrounding vehicle environment \(windshield / instrument panel\), and create expensive vehicle repair, including replacement of the airbag module\(s\). In some instances, inadvertent deployment could cause minor injuries to vehicle occupants. Correction: Dealers will remove the acoustic pad above the SDM.
- [2008313](/recalls/tc/2008313.md), 2008-08-29: Other. On certain vehicles equipped with a heated washer fluid system, a short circuit on the printed circuit board for the washer fluid heater may overheat the control\-circuit ground wire. This situation may cause other electrical features to malfunction which could cause smoke and in some cases a fire. Correction: Dealer will install a wire harness with an in\-line fuse.
