Service bulletins for the 2023 Freightliner Sprinter

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

LI09.40-N-079144_42025-05-02. Service bulletin. ENGINE. Check engine light with reduced power with fault codes P300A6D, P300974, P300DFB, or P300DE8 Complaint: The check engine light is activated, accompanied by one or more of the following fault codes related to the Boost Pressure Positioner: • P300A6D The boost pressure is too low. Charge Air Cooler. • P300974 Component 'Boost pressure positioner' has a malfunction. The boost pressure is too low. • P300DFB Component 'Boost pressure positioner' has a malfunction. • P300DE8 Boost pressure control A has a malfunction after the cold start. Cause: The potential causes for these fault codes are: A. Leak or Blockage in the Intake or Charge Air System: This can prevent the proper flow of air, affecting the boost pressure. B. Insufficient Source Vacuum, Vacuum Leak, or Sticking/Weak Vacuum Component: These issues can prevent the boost pressure positioner from functioning correctly. C. Internal Malfunction of the Boost Pressure Positioner: The component itself may be faulty. D. Internal Defect with the Variable Turbine Geometry (VTG) System inside the Turbocharger: Issues within the turbo-charger can affect boost pressure control.
LI01.20-N-079115_12025-05-02. Service bulletin. ENGINE. Check engine light illuminated - Fault code current P04D-B79 The crankcase ventilation system is interrupted. Complaint: Check engine light on. Fault code P04DB79 is current in the engine control module (N3/10). Cause: Open circuit or high resistance to crankcase vent line contact Remedy 1. Check the electrical connector for S208 vent line contact switch. Refer to attached photo of connection location. 2. Ensure the bolted connection is secure and bolt can be torqued (9Nm). 3. Check continuity from vent line connection to ME control unit. Repair wire if damage is found.
LI49.20-N-0759952025-04-03. Service bulletin. ENGINE. Vehicles with SCR Generation 4: SCR/AdBlue® warning message cannot be reset with fault code P13DF00 or P300685 Complaint: Vehicles with SCR Generation 4: SCR/AdBlue® warning message cannot be reset. Information: All fault codes in the AdBlue® (SCR) control unit have been processed and corrected; however, fault codes P13DF00 and P300685 remain active and stored in the AdBlue® (SCR) control unit. Cause: The procedure for resetting the SCR/AdBlue® warning message with XENTRY Diagnosis has not been carried out. Information: Before resetting the SCR/AdBlue® warning message for SCR Generation 4, the AdBlue® system must be in proper working condition and tested.
LI14.30-N-0758822025-01-03. Service bulletin. ENGINE. Check engine light active Complaint Check engine warning light active. The following fault codes may be present in the engine control unit: • P3007F1 Leak detected in intake air system or • P3007F2 Mass air flow malfunction in intake air system (cylinder bank 1) or • P300CA8 Leak detected in intake air system or • P300CA9 Mass air flow malfunction in intake air system (cylinder bank 1) or • P300CA9 and P3007F1: Faults are present simultaneously in the quick test
LI49.00-N-0786082024-12-04. Service bulletin. ENGINE. SMOG/Emissions Test fail due to one or more Readiness Monitors not set Complaint: The vehicle has failed the State Emissions Certification because one or more of the OBDII readiness monitors are not completely set. Cause: One or more of the following Readiness Monitors are not fully set within XENTRY: Misfire Monitoring - Injection System Fuel System Monitoring - Injection System, Fuel System, EGR Valve, O2 Sensor NMHC Catalyst Monitoring - NMHC/Diesel Oxidation Catalyst NOx Aftertreatment Monitoring - SCR Catalyst System Boost Pressure System Monitoring - Turbocharger, Charge Air System Exhaust Gas Sensor Monitoring - O2 Sensor, NOx Sensors Diesel Particulate Filter Monitoring - Diesel Particulate Filter System Exhaust Gas Recirculation System Monitoring - EGR Valve and system Remedy: Please complete the required driving conditions to fully set the incomplete Readiness Monitor. DO NOT: - Erase any fault codes. If fault codes are present, process these and allow the readiness drives to clear fault codes. - Flash or SCN code the CDI or SCR control units. - Perform a manual DPF regeneration, unless instructed below. - Disconnect the main battery.
LI14.30-N-0758822024-11-05. Service bulletin. ENGINE. Complaint Check engine warning light active. Fault code P300CA8 or P300CA9 "Hot film mass air flow sensor malfunction" present in engine control unit. Cause These faults can be set if: 1. A leakage upstream of the exhaust gas turbocharger causing a to high EGR rate. 2. Carbonized parts, e.g., the intake module, housing intermediate flange on high-pressure EGR valve (assembly of exhaust pressure sensor P3) or the intake ports also let through too little air. 3. The air filter has been highly soiled, incorrectly positioned or has a deformation.
