Service bulletins for the 2020 Freightliner Cascadia
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.
661 on file from NHTSA, as of 2026-10-19.

Service Solution for P4 Cascadia Front HVAC Evaporator Freezing. Front evaporator freezes creating ice buildup, reducing airflow through the vents. |
| WI21-001 | 2021-01-26. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; EQUIPMENT. Warranty Information Letter for Detroit New Service Replacement Engine SRT Update. While validating Standard Repair Times (SRTs) for Detroit's new Gen 5 engine series, DTNA discovered an error in a pre-Gen 5 SRT for the New Service Replacement Engine Program. As a result, DTNA re-studied the SRT and concluded that time for removing/re-installing multiple components (e.g., exhaust manifold/turbo, engine sensor harness, rocker arm assemblies, etc.) should not be included. |
| SB54-342 | 2021-01-26. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EQUIPMENT; EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY. Freightliner Service Bulletin for Rain/Light Sensor Removal. On New Cascadia vehicles, a delay in the timing of communication (hand shake) between the rain/light sensor (RLS) and sSAM generates fault code "33/521940/12 - rain/light sensor - general DTC timeout", which causes the sensor to stop working. |
| SB60-174 | 2021-01-22. Service bulletin. STRUCTURE. Freightliner Service Bulletin for Replacement Cab Doors with Pre-Drilled Holes. Replacement doors for New Cascadia vehicles are now pre-drilled with two holes for the installation of turning vanes. If turning vanes are not installed, the pre-drilled holes need to be plugged with ratchet fasteners. |
| SB54-339 | 2021-01-22. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Freightliner Service Bulletin for Updating the Programming of the Integrative Predictive Powertrain Control (IPPC) Module. The integrative predictive powertrain control (IPPC) module programming should be updated to the newest software. If the ignition short-cycles on these vehicles with the previous software, there is a risk that the IPPC module will not have time to write EEPROM data in the controller. If this occurs, the IPPC will set check sum fault 520208/19 and will require programming to clear it. |
| SB54-337 | 2021-01-22. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Freightliner Service Bulletin for Coolant Level Sensor Wiring Repair. On New Cascadia vehicles, depending on the tension applied to the harness located at the coolant level sensor and its mounting locations, wiring damage can occur, resulting in one or more of the below listed fault codes. |
| Techtalk6609 | 2021-01-03. Service bulletin. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Tech Talk continuing discussion on Optimized Idle batteries dying. |
| Techtalk7997 | 2020-12-31. Service bulletin. EXTERIOR LIGHTING; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Tech Talk discussion on trailer lights fuse. |
| Techtalk7983 | 2020-12-31. Service bulletin. FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE; LANE DEPARTURE. Tech Talk discussion on collision system audible warning sound not working. |
| Techtalk7977 | 2020-12-31. Service bulletin. VISIBILITY. Tech Talk discussion on rookie mirror falling out. |
| Techtalk7973 | 2020-12-31. Service bulletin. FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE. Tech Talk discussion on metal in fuel. |
| Techtalk7869 | 2020-12-31. Service bulletin. LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES; EQUIPMENT. Tech Talk discussion on KEYLESS ENTRY KEY FOB programming. |
| Techtalk7343 | 2020-12-31. Service bulletin. ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL:AUTOMATIC (ASC); WHEELS. Tech Talk discussion on 2020 P4 COMPLAINT IS THAT TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON. |
| Techtalk7065 | 2020-12-31. Service bulletin. VISIBILITY. Tech Talk continued discussion on New Cascadia wipers unresponsive. Wipers don't work in the first two positions. Determined to be the LDW camera wire was caught underneath the top right portion of the windshield mounting plate, thus causing the rain/light sensor to not seat all the way against the windshield. |
| Techtalk6578 | 2020-12-31. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES, AIR. Tech Talk discussion on New Cascadia "low air pressure" warning light. |
| SS1034868 | 2020-12-30. Service bulletin. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. Service Solution for flickering overhead reading light during slight movement of the steering wheel for New Cascadia with DR 40SI alternators, possibly other alternators as well. The flickering overhead light is considered a nuisance, and can be simply eliminated by either adding an accessory to one of the power receptacles, or running an additional ground in one of the sleeper bunk lamps to suppress the ripples on the circuit. |
| SB54-338 | 2020-12-30. Service bulletin. VISIBILITY; EQUIPMENT. Freightliner Service Bulletin for Front HVAC Evaporator Freezing and Espar Heater Cool Down Algorithm. New Cascadia vehicles with sleeper cabs may become extremely cold when in A/C mode, which can lead to reduced airflow as a result of internal ice buildup at the evaporator. Durability of the Espar D5 heater system when paired with the battery parked HVAC system (BPHS) can be improved by applying "cool down" software to the parked control unit (PCU). |
| SB35-036 | 2020-12-30. Service bulletin. POWER TRAIN. Revised Freightliner Service Bulletin for Axle Flange Gasket Replaced with O-Ring. Revision removed steps instructing removal and installation of wheels. Daimler Trucks North America has released a new axle shaft to hub rubber O-ring (part number 11-30728-000) as a replacement for the paper gasket (part number 11-14418-000). The new O-ring will provide better sealing and is reusable. It is quicker and easier to use compared to the paper gasket, because using a paper gasket requires cleaning the hub when the axle shaft is removed. |
| SB42-079 | 2020-12-30. Service bulletin. SERVICE BRAKES. Freightliner Service Bulletin for Access to Front Brake Zerk Fittings. Certain vehicles with Detroit front axles and Meritor EX-L front air disc brakes do not have access to the front brake zerk fittings for lubrication. |
