Wires without strain relief can allow water to intrude past the seals, resulting in corrosion on the terminals and pins within the connector. On New Cascadia vehicles, a delay in the timing of communication (hand shake) between the rain/light sensor (RLS) and sSAM generates fault code "33/521940/12 - rain/light sensor - general DTC timeout", which causes the sensor to stop working.

Service Solution for flickering overhead reading light during slight movement of the steering wheel for New Cascadia with DR 40SI alternators, possibly other alternators as well. The flickering overhead light is considered a nuisance, and can be simply eliminated by either adding an accessory to one of the power receptacles, or running an additional ground in one of the sleeper bunk lamps to suppress the ripples on the circuit.
