# Service bulletins for the 2011 Ford F\-650

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

128 bulletins from NHTSA, as of 2026-10-19.

- [SSM 54601](/bulletins/11029052.md), 2026-02-27, Service bulletin: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; STRUCTURE:BODY; UNKNOWN OR OTHER. Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with wired keyless entry keypad systems and accessory wireless keyless entry keypad systems may or may not come with a wallet card containing the master code. Unlike the integrated wired keypad, the accessory wireless keypad master code cannot be retrieved from the vehicle using a diagnostic scan tool or from the label printed on the body control module \(BCM\). The Factory Keyless Entry Code application within the diagnostic scan tool will not provide an applicable master code for the accessory wireless keypad. If the wallet card for an accessory keypad is not available, the "Wireless RF Keypad Diagnosis Guide" can be referenced and provides direction on how to retrieve the master code. This guide is located under the Workshop Manual tab \> Accessories \> Installation \> Wireless RF Keypad Diagnosis Guide \> PPT C \> Step C2.\<br /\>\<br /\> Note: The only available keypad for some vehicles from the assembly plant is the accessory wireless keyless entry keypad. - [SSM 51691](/bulletins/10237789.md), 2023-06-16, Service bulletin: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM; POWER TRAIN. 2011\-2023 F\-Super Duty and 2016\-2024 F\-650/F\-750 vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine may exhibit an elevated idle condition. During prolonged idle time, vehicles may experience this elevated idle to reduce unburned hydrocarbons from the SCR. The powertrain control module estimates hydrocarbon levels in the SCR and may increase idle speed to remove them. Idle speed will be increased to 1000 RPM for ambient temperatures near 26°C \(80°F\) and may increase to 1200 RPM at \-40 °C \(\-40°F\). Vehicles may exhibit exhaust smoke and diesel exhaust fluid smell during elevated idle condition. Exhaust smoke and smell condition will not affect reliability or durability of the engine. Power take\-off \(PTO\) use and idle set point control will disable elevated speed. It is required that the operator monitor the vehicle and adhere to any Exhaust Filter warning messages.
- [SSM 51536](/bulletins/10235153.md), 2023-05-04, Service bulletin: STRUCTURE. For 2000\-2024 Ford and Lincoln vehicles, swapping a module from a vehicle for diagnosis purposes is likely to cause errors and is not recommended. It is also not recommended to order a replacement module using a vehicle identification number \(VIN\) from a different vehicle. Most modules on these affected vehicles are VIN/vehicle specific and hardware variations between modules do exist. Swapping a module from a vehicle or ordering a module using a different vehicle/VIN can cause ineffective repairs and additional vehicle down time. Make sure all appropriate Workshop Manual \(WSM\) procedures are followed when diagnosing the condition prior to all module replacements and only order modules using the correct VIN.

Some 2011\-2019 F\-Super Duty, 2015\-2019 Transit, 2016\-2019 F\-650/F\-750 and 2018 F\-150 vehicles equipped with a 6.7L, 3.2L or 3.0L engine may exhibit an illuminated MIL with diagnostic trouble codes \(DTCs\) P207F, P20EE, P229F, P2201 and/or P24AE. This may be a result of using aftermarket cleaning liquids or tools for the exhaust gas recirculation \(EGR\) cooler or intake. Ford does not recommend the cleaning of diesel intakes or EGR coolers using any aftermarket tool that injects a cleaning foam or liquid substance into the EGR cooler or intake. Using these types of fluids can result in sodium poisoning of the NOx and particulate matter \(PM\) sensors resulting in degraded operation and permanent damage to the aftertreatment system. Use of these cleaning tools may void the emissions warranty of the hot end aftertreatment exhaust system and the attached emissions sensors.

Some 2011\-2018 F\-Super Duty 6.7L diesel equipped vehicles may exhibit a ticking noise at idle after an engine oil change. It is often referred to as Typewriter Noise because of its similarity to the sound of a mechanical typewriter. When engine temperatures reach 150 Å?F \(65 Å?C\) or higher, \(from engine idle up to approximately 1700 RPM's\), this noise can typically be heard at the front wheel well and is often isolated to the transmission bell housing or oil pan area. Typewriter Noise is not detrimental to engine function or durability and has no short or long term effects on the engine. Do not attempt repairs to eliminate this noise. This noise is characteristic of the 6.7L diesel engine and will typically cease or diminish significantly within the oil change maintenance interval.
