| SSM 51719 | 2023-06-21. Service bulletin. Some 2021-2023 F-Super Duty/E-Series vehicles equipped with a 6.2L, 6.8L or 7.3L gasoline engine may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0457 and/or P0455 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to a improper fuel filler cap installation and/or outside contamination on the fuel cap sealing surface. The fuel filler cap requires multiple turns to seal properly and should be clean of any debris on sealing surface. Advise the customer to turn the fuel filler cap clockwise until there is at least one audible click to seal properly. If the DTCs return after the fuel filler cap is cleared of debris and properly seated, refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-13 > pinpoint test HX. |
